I have a ten year old, adorable fat cat. I mean FAT. He weighs 18 pounds and is lazy, except when he wants treats. In the last six months or so he has started to pee in one spot of my bedroom. I don't know if there's a reason he chooses this spot. It's just a carpeted corner, but at least once a week he has the urge to go there. Should I get him checked by a vet?

Before you have him checked, call your vet first, save yourself the $50.00 visit fee. It could be that there was a scent put there by something else and he may actually want to let what ever visited know that is his corner.
Unfortunately, cat urine is one of the hardest odors to get rid of. There is some stuff that is called "Bitter Apple" that is said to help stop this problem, you might need to clean that particular area, then spray it with the bitter apple.
One other thing to consider, sometimes if you change your routine or something, the cat could be just showing you that you made him mad and that is his way of getting even. I actually have a cat that does that to me if I change something in my home.
Good Luck!

Cats get all kind of bladder problems, most can be helped but you need to get him to the Vet Any time your pet starts a new activity, especially an older one, you need to be alert and have them checked. It's one of the way they can communicate with us.
