We don't like people who start discussions and do not respond

What's wrong with not responding to the discussion? There are some responses which just do not require the topic starter to give an answer.

What difference does it make? And who are "we"? The idea on myLot is to get discussions started. If people who respond are truly interested, the discussion carries itself. A discussion that has to be egged on continually by its "owner" is a poor discussion. If someone wants to start a discussion and answer every response, that's fine, but it's certainly not a requirement.

People create discussions all the time. Some go unresponded so they can't be closed. What can anyone do then? Nothing. If no one replies to your topic there's nothing you can do.

I think that everyone has a discussion where one or more responses are hard to respond to. I can understand when I don't get a comment back on my response to another's discussion but I'll be honest while I do get discouraged, I don't really mind as I understand. I think that this is just something we all need to work on. Some newer members do this, just as some older members do this. It could be part of the excitement of mylot, the newness to some, and just being bored of your own discussion. I think that once someone is on here for awhile they'll realize that it helps to respond back, that you get more money and if not, you get more friends. How does one close a discussion and for what? We have discussions to discuss right? so whats the point in closing a discussion? There are so many members here on mylot and some one or the other might have something to say about the topic at any time, may be even after a year. It happens sometimes when old buried discussions are dug out...i have done it to a couple of them because i found them interesting

Better you say it "I" not "we" not unless there is someone along with you. Maybe that is only your opinion, other's opinion are different too. But here on Mylot, it is usual that the host for the certain topic will go share his/ her topic with others by commenting on them as they participate. I don't seem to understand why you said "get to an idea"? does this mean their getting out of their own context? well anyway happy Mylotting!
