I have been taking Karate off and on for seven years. I have never progressed beyond an Orange belt. Most people I know would tell me to quit but I am not taking Karate for gaining belts alone. I am 47 years old. Many would say my time has gone. Karate provides first exercise and it helps to maintain my mental and spiritual base. I know to progress I must work harder and practice on my own but with all the things that distract us in this world I feel Im doing okay.
I am not the most flexible athelete but I do Okay. I plan to stick with it. One day maybe I will become a Black Belt in another 7 years. If that happens Im okay with it.

I know many dif. types of karate and weaponry and the green belt is where they teach combo move mabye you need to meditate harder before class. Let me explain, you need to be flexibale, not beacause you need to bend put becase it loosens your muscles and give you more relation witch you need to be able to change from the different muscle groups faster.this is vital for combo moves hope this helps.

I stopped taking Karate but after rereading this posting I believe I will try to start again. I may start with private leesons and move back to combined sessions. My body has totally fallen and I need to get back on that horse.

dude, you can take karate even if you have 99 years old. theres no age for that. anyway, im one of the youngers in my class, and i take 4 years to progress beyond off a white belt. you need to be mentally prepared. so, keep going and dont give up! its never late for somebody to do what she/he really wants.
regards!
