LeCarre is more of espionage type, but one thing differs him from today authors of his genre is the plot evolves itself on the characters... well i have 15 books of Lawrence Sanders and I really enjoy Archy Mcnally too and Timothy Cone with his repertoire of sandwiches.. yum

I have read all of Le Carre and a lot of Sanders, and enjoy both. But as writing goes, how is it possible to put them in the same breath? Le Carre is a genuine novelist, Sanders is an enjoyable lightweight.

I have read quite a few Sanders books. I love them even though the newer ones are written by a ghost writer since Sanders has passed on. I still have many to read. I have never read Le Carre though I do have two books on my shelf that I inherited from my father. Espionage does not appeal to me but eventually I will get around to reading one. I have probably about 200 books to be read on my shelves so it will take a long time to get around to it, if at all. I do get my books from second hand stores or the sale in the basement of the library as you can pay whatever you want for the books you take from them. However, I still buy books new. Sometimes I just can't resist, especially if I am meeting the author. I like autographed books.
