It is really hard to define what is true enjoyment. Money, power, knowledge, comforts ....all these definitely bring in happiness .However only a chosen few are granted these wishes in life. It is hard to explain why enjoyment is granted in full only to a select number of people. The phenomenon could never be sensibly explained .Why is enjoyment in life attributed to these few only? are they the only blessed ones?

Hi sukumar794! I do wonder too sometimes. I lack material comfort and that means most of the time I worry about bills and payments. I am not lacking in love and care being shown and felt all around me within the circle of my family and friends and that means I enjoy that one aspect of my life. But to truly enjoy life, is it not that we should have a balance in all aspects of our life? I guess, I can't say that I truly enjoy my life but I do have some blessings that I appreciate and is thankful for which makes my life somehow beautiful. But of course, my life will be happier if I won't lack financial security in the days to come. Just my thoughts.
Take care and have a great day!

It's my belief that enjoyment is possible even without money, power, knowledge and comforts. I'm in the category of fixed income, no job, intelligent but not knowledgeable about much, and as for comforts -- I guess that's my car, an old '91 Nissan, TV, recliner (old, well worn), a roof over my head, heat in the cold weather, food, all pretty basic stuff. I forgot to mention friends. They sure are a comfort and I feel blessed to be able to enjoy life without more than I have.
How do you feel about living the good life? Do you feel you need more than you have to enjoy your life or do you enjoy life without the stuff you don't have? I think it's a matter of changing choices to suit the circumstances.

Without sufficient financial input, how could anyone meet the growing demands especially of the family(wife and children in particular).

Suk, there's a lot of stress in making sure there's enough money to meet the expenses of a family. I sure don't have a good answer for you. I gather from your posts that you believe in God and go to Him in prayer and praise. Somehow, He finds a way in which your needs will be met -- not necessarily your desires, nor the way you picture the outcome. It's truly amazing how God has stepped in and figured out ways of solving problems in my life. To some, they might seem like luck or circumstances, but the timing was a God shot (blessing).
The topic began as being able to enjoy your life -- the responses you've received are awesome. Take heart, friend.

Everyone has the opportunity to enjoy themselve.
It is just that people don't know how.
Your question does show that you don't know how.
You believe that without money and material possessions... you cannot be happy.
Children don't have any money.
But somehow they manage to be happier than we are.
They use their imagination and make do with what they have.
Unlike us adults... who are never satisfy.
I won't do this unless I have that.
In which case we sit there and do nothing.

Humans by nature don't get satisfied with the things they have right now. they tend to seek for something more than what they have. they seek for greater satisfaction indeed. but that's how human act and think. so no one can ever blame humans by acting that way...

No... You are wrong.
Humans are not born that way.
They are taught to be that way.

People do not enjoy life because they choose not to. Those that don't are always dissatisfied with what they have, always trying to get something they don't have when all they need to truly enjoy living is right under their nose. If one has enough to eat, a roof and friends that's all that's needed to enjoy life. I've met people that don't even have these basic necessities that choose to see the good things in life--the sunrise and sunset, the bird songs, the spring flowers and the beauty of the snow. They choose to be happy. That's the secret to enjoying life, not money, power, knowledge or comfort.

Great response dragon54u;
Food , clothing and shelter are basic needs and after this everything is in the mind.YOu have summed it up beautifully.I have also seen people who are not very well off[] but give a contented appearance and are happy with their lot in life and are also thankful--In the town where I lived earlier, there was a vegetable vendor who used to be like this.[A lady][from what i could see she was struggling to meet ends meet] I recall her frequently in this big city where by and large, people are very exploitative and unhappy.

Money does not give me true happiness. I find true enjoyment from watching my kids succeed at something they have tried so hard to conquer, even if it is just getting good grades in school. My kids really provide true happiness for me in all aspects of my life. I also enjoy taking photos of the beautiful scenery that God so graciously provides for us. You need to begin to look elsewhere for happiness and you truly will find it as well.

Enjoyment is granted in full to nobody in this world except for the those that renounce the world and seek to know the truth. Nobody who has some attachment in this world can fully enjoy life…what we see is what we think, like this person has so much money Oh he must be so happy, or that lady travels so much…she is so lucky and so on. Even I think so though I know that all these are temporary phases…what’s vital today loses its importance tomorrow. Completely enjoyment comes only by seeking the truth about ourselves, our lives and our ultimate goal in life.

you know sukumar
I often ask myself why I never win lottery
but nobody has everything they want
having the money, power, knowledge and comforts is not true enjoyment
rich and powerful people only look as if they live comfortable lives
they don't
their bills are millions, they too have to keep working
those that own businesses have to brainstorm every day to find ways for the business to survive
not to mention criminals vying on their money and bank accounts even their homes
sure they can afford security and invest in reputable companies
but criminals also have their own network, not to mention fierce competitors who will do anything to win
it's a life struggle, even if they dress nice and bringing home millions
you can't call this true enjoyment, I sure won't

Indeed it is hard to define what is enjoyment, not to mention true enjoyment. Everyone can enjoy and have the chance to enjoy what they enjoy doing. It just happen that many measure joy in terms of money, power, knowledge, comfort etc, all the material gains. Personally, I do find enjoyment and happiness basking in the silent moment, even though it may be only for one minute if not 10 seconds. If I feel I am blessed, I am blessed.

I just doubt that these things can bring happiness to anyone.
If there is no one to celebrate with you then your victory is the biggest defeat, that is what i believe in and hence I feel people whom you love and those who loves you can only bring happiness to you.

YOUR GREAT DISCUSSION WITH POSITIVE DOUBTFUL
First and foremost ~ I much thank you for providing this quality discussion where you have included the major factors of enjoyment related to the element of happiness. Ending with imperative question marks for a layman like me to answer.
THE PHENOMENON RELATED TO THE HAPPENING
Category of phenomenon ~ something that is impressive or extraordinary and the category of it are; unexplained, paranormal, natural, supernatural, and social. I believe that your discussion falls into natural phenomenon where it is a non-artificial event in the physical sense, and therefore not produced by humans, although it may affect humans. The word "physical sense" I have included.
Why I said as natural phenomenon? ~ not for an unexplained phenomenon?. It should be an unexplained phenomenon, as majority common sense accept and agree. Because, the "physical sense" involved H.S.S.T.T. - Hear, See, Smell, Taste, & Touch. By lucid explanation it is "Seeing Is Believing". No proof will never belief. Whereas, Mahatma Gandhi also said "Happiness is at heart, ask your heart?".
Meaning that, it is an explainable by heart to authoritatively edify and discern those five (5) physical sense the meaning of happiness. Is it a theory or fact or philosophy?. My answer is the fact. What is the fact? and where is the fact?
THE FACT AND FIGURE
Have you heard about rich people that having problem with happiness?. Where their wealth materials unable to solve their life issues. Where their money no longer can buy one's heart and the reputation. Meaning that, the fact does create the figure. Figure out with life color of their happiness rejected their wealth in money, power, knowledge, and comforts.
WHERE IS HAPPINESS AND WHEN?
Happiness just rest awaiting beside the sadness circle and the factors that prevent it to surface by taking over sadness in our life are immeasurable and unreachable. When we do anything in our life, we MUST make sure that we are in the circle of measurable and reachable. Don't be unhappy if we are not the son of one king but wish to be a king and it never be true and through in our life. But, if it happened in reality, it is a supernatural phenomenon.
MY CONCLUSION
In our life, not necessarily gold shoes should replace a cheap hat. A cheap hat must be up on top of our head and shoes must be down for our feet. Not the other way round. Wish you good health and wealth, dear sukumar794.

I believe true enjoyment is different to all, that it just so happens that many have a few in common. I would definately enjoy having money, not so much power. But I in the absence of also enjoy laughing and playing with my two healthy and beautiful children. I feel my level of knowledge is appropriate for the life that I've lived and as I live on will acquire what more is neccesary. To own a house is also high on my list of what in this life could add to reaching True Enjoyment if you will. But before you lable me Materialistic, I definately find enjoyment in the simpler things as well!
