This is my situation. I spent a good deal of money on all of my friends only to yield nothing in return. This was last year. recently i went to my friend's birthday party and told her that I have no money right now and that i would buy her a gift when i did. the very next gift she told me that I owed her a gift and actually said "lets go to the mall so i can pick out my present"
thoughts?
has this ever happened to you?

hello hisana, i think your friend only took advantage on you because of what she's acting... or maybe, she's very close to you that you have closed relationship as friends so she had the nerve to act that way.. it depends on your relationship as friends, there are closed friends who can act that way without any hesitations at all, but if that friend of yours is not that closed to you, hello! she's don't have that in position to act like that.. i never had a friend like that, actually...well, it's for you to feel that if she's really a good friend or she just taking advantage.. good luck and God Bless friend.. have a nice day..

I think your friend whom you are talking about may be very close to you otherwise she would not have asked you.
I make it a point to never go to a birthday party without any gifts. Its their special day & it makes more memorable to gift them something.

No this hasn't happened to me at all, my friends don't expect gifts or money from me at anytime nor do I expect it from them. We would rather spend time together and focus on the friendship we have instead of what the other person can buy us. Honestly if my friends were like that I would feel used, I would assume they didn't really value my friendship but instead my money.
