Well Youless I too was hesitant to use the micro wave oven at first, since I was told its not good for health in the long run.I even spoke to my family doctor before buying one,and he said, its safe to use,and I should consume the food only a few seconds after I remove it from the oven.....So recently I bought a mocro wave and I must admit its very handy to use......

I hate them my friend! I refuse to use them, I don't like any food cooked in them, it's one kitchen gadget that I won't have in my kitchen, I don't like the taste of microwaved food and you have to be so careful how you cook food in them. They are ok for convenience and for heating stuff up but not for me personally, I can certainly live without it.

a lot of people use to tell me that its not good for our health--they say it can cause cancer if we use it too much..but it never stopped me from using it since its very convenient and i always eat on a rush because i got less time on my hands..

I use mine a lot, especially for re heated things and for veggies and rice. I have a great little microwave veggie steamer that works great and is so convenient. I always just buy minute rice and it only takes about 7 minutes in the microwave and tastes fine. I also have a nifty egg cooker for the microwave that works great, you can cook a medium pouched egg in about 45 seconds. I couldn't live without one but I won't be cooking steak or a turkey in there anytime soon. But for reheating and such it's great. And no, I really don't feel they are dangerous, check the best response to this discussion http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1928432.aspx.

Morning,youless.
I seldom use the microwave oven and I havent it in my kitchen. In fact, I only used it in the hospital. When my wife had borned our child and lived in the hospital,I used it to warm the food, mainly eggs and the porridge.
Would it break the nutrition of the food?I have no idea.
But I am worried that it makes food finished so fast, which might be not good to the food health, and might do harm to our health.
So, I think seldom using it would be okay, maybe!

Hi youless, so far I don’t own any microwave oven in my kitchen. I use it sometimes in the office. I would like to make the homemade soup noodle in the big bowl hot again by putting it in the oven when I feel hungry. After closing the door and turning on the required time button set. Very fast I could enjoy eating the hot bowl of dish after hearing the lovely and silvery “ting”!
Before preparing coffee I would like to place a mug of water in it, and get a mug of hot water then within such an extremely short while. I then could enjoy a cup of hot aromatic coffee after pouring the 3 in one coffee into it and well stir nicely. It is really convenient and fast to use a microwave oven to preparing whatever type of foods.
Happy posting and cooking.

I love to use this microwave oven Youless.
Especially, weh the weather is terribly hot, it is a really big relief to use this even for cooking.Vegetables get done very fast here and just take care to see that you don't open and have hte food boiling hot.Thatis all. Ohterwise I trust in God and go about using it.
I have also baked a few cookies in this [using the convection mode] and nothing is wrong with it.My new attempts were all very fruitful and got a unanimous applause at home.

Microwave oven is safe to use.
For facts, read here: http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/microwaveQA.html
I also use the microwave oven especially to heat the left over food and to make my hot foamy coffee :)

I don't know for sure if microwaved food is bad for health or not.
I also do not use the microwave much as I do not have one. And the one in the office is... well... filthy!
Most of the time I get my food, if I need it reheated, it is either steamed in the wok or heated on the frying pan.

I used to when my old one was still working, but now I don't have one because it was broken and I decided not to buy a new one because it's really not healthy! I would rather steam the leftover if I have to reheat it.

I think I should say yes & no. Yes, it's really convenient & the no part is because my wife is the one usually doing the reheating, haha!~I remember I broke the detachable turntable glass plate sometime ago as I accidentally shifted it & it was not properly aligned so the weight of the plate or microwave ware caused the thing to break into 2

Nearly two to three weeks without using the microwave....come to think of it I survived in the kitchen without using it....but it's a good investment and great that the right size was found to fit the shelf

Hi, I must say that I don't like them at all. The number one reason is because I think the food made/heated in microwaves taste bad (maybe I just tried the wrong brands). My boyfriend and I moved to a new flat recently and we dont even have a microwave at the moment and I dont miss it either. I can believe that it is not particularly healthy to eat food made/heated in a microwave but this is not the main reason I give it a miss. Oh, just came to think about microwave popcorn...they are quite nice:)

Dear youless! All of us knew that raw food is more nutritious than cooked. It is a known fact that cooking food destroys nutrients, whether it's on a stove, or in the microwave oven. However, microwaving food on high power can be more destructive than cooking on the stove. And they say that most microwave oven are set on default high setting. So if you use a microwave, use one with an inverter magnetron, and cook on low power. Cooking on true low power (not intermittent high) will greatly reduce the amount of damage done to the food.
This information about microwave is quite knew to me and I was curious and really interested to find out more and so I have searched more about this. I guess, with the modernization and convenience that technology has to offer, we do pay some price. Thanks for starting this discussion because somehow we can be aware of such things and we can be more cautious.
Take care and have a great day!

I use it several times a day. It's much easier and less time and energy consuming to do things that way than to wait for a pan or oven to heat up.
They've been saying it's bad for you for years..... everything is bad for you for one reason or another. It's like eggs, one year they say they cause heart disease some time later they say it's the best protein & is a good source of all sorts of stuff. It depends on who's doing the research and who's paying for it! can equal a lil bias in judgement on things.

I use my microwave oven just about everyday- it is very convinient to heat up or thaw things. I used to go to a natural/organic remedy doctor, and she told me I should stop using microwaves because of some gradula radiation or something, but I didn't really believe that. :P

yes, i often use microwave oven.
It is too hurry to go home to have lunch,so we put our lunch in the lunch-box, and bring it to company. At noon, we will put it in microwave oven and heat it.
So we work from Mon-Sat. I have to eat the food heated by microwave oven.
In fact, i don't like to use microwave oven,i think it is not good for our health if we often use it ,though it is convenient.
