People are selfish !

Hi all
First of all let me say that not all people are selfish, neither do I want to insult something. I just want to bring this to your attention.
Well over the past weeks to months, I've noticed a thing or two on the news and also in my daily life.
First of all I noticed that people only think about themselves. For example, a plane crashed not so far from where I live, and there was a guy that just stood there filming the whole thing with his cellphone, someone else was taking pictures, these persons didn't seem to care that there were people dying, or in serious pain.
Now, in my opinion and if I had the power, I would sentence these people to some jailtime, I think we are obligated to help others IF we can help them, and surely we can always do something, for instance calling an ambulance or something like that..
Another thing I noticed is that a lot of people are greedy and always want more and better. Now personally I am also a bit like that, I mean I also want more money and better things, but not at the cost of other people. I think everyone has this, but some people just go to far, like mayor companies firing people who have several kids in college, loans, and who knows what else to pay for. But I actually can't blaim them for firing people, the companies need to survive too, it's just the way they fire people. Let me give you an example:
One of my neighbours was fired a few days ago, he received a letter 2 days before that stating that the company couldn't keep him as an employee anymore, so they had to fire him. Just like that. No warning, no compensation, nothing..
That's what makes me angry, the cowardness of people.. (if you can call it like that)
Well I think I should stop before I make all kinds of people angry, but I just had to say it, so please try to understand.

It's true. The world has become a very cold and heartless place. Many people are only concerned with themselves and don't have time to stop and lend a hand. I think part of it is that we are so busy in our lives these days, we are trying to cram 24 hours into 12 and we are stressed out. In these tough economic times and recent economic downturn, things are becoming much worse. People are losing jobs and money. I think this leads to more isolation for people, in a society where we don't take the time to actually talk to people, we just email them instead or text them.

Everyone is selfish unfortuntely. It is inherent. We can't help but naturally think about ourselves. But we also have the sense to know that it isn't right and what to do to combat it it like treating people with respect, understanding we are not better than anyone else and things like that. Most of our thoughts center around ourselves-how can we help it-we are with ourslevs twenty four hours a day seven days a week. It requires us to make a conscious reminder to treat others the way we would want to be treated and to not let our selfishness show up in our actions.

I dont agree with your point that selfish in inherent. Rather it is the environment that make's a man selfish. In todays world one has to be more or less selfish to sustain in life and in work places.

yes its true that people have become very selfish,there are quite few people who are unselfish and loving.its very seldom we find unselfish people.
i do bother abt my own things in first place,but i am not selfish.i do help them when they are in need.though my classmates are friendly ,as they need me for their work,though i know their selfishness,yet i help them.just we need to accept people as they are,yet one should spread their love to all.

I agree people are selfish.
I accept that people should think about themselves as long as they don't take advantages from others. I think selfish people would finally lose important things in life, like love, friendships. So, most of the time, I won't care about how selfish others are, I don't want to think too much on those selfish people, it is complete waste of time. My life should be beautiful and happy, and no selfish people will be involved in my life.
NrgDfenZ, selfish people takes more bother than they worth. Forget them~

Actually human beings are selfish in nature at times. Nowadays people has become more self-centered than before. What you said about some people,was also not correct in part of them who without helping,were taking videos. When you can see somebody in real trouble,its your duty to help them. But you know now every body want to save there skin. For example if there was a murder or accident between two vehicles,people are forced to keep dumm because of harashment. If they sart speaking,they would be harashed by the cop with there questions. So nobody want to get into such situation. And i my don't think that there is anything wrong in it.

You know I truly understand where you are coming from there are alot of selfish people out there. those people who seen that crash should have did all they could to see if they could help but I do understand sometimes in tragic situations people are hesitant because they are scared but I have seen where people could help a person and choose not to
I remember when I was little girl and I was playing around a pool and fell in well the guys who were in the pool saw me drowning and didn't move to help it was another lady across the way who ran out to help me... they just had this blank look on there faces and i've carried that with me all my life " why didn't those men help me"
And these companies boy they are really selfish for one they are for self gain.. not really worried about the people they don't even pay enough or at the rate they should and to let people go without compensation that is harsh...

Hi, NrgDfenZ! Thank you for voicing this out! We all need to hear this! It is sad that people only seem to care about themselves. In my 30 years, I have met may people that are very selfich! It is all about them and only them. They want to get what they want without caring the least about another persons feelings. It is a shame. I feel like you feel too. I read your entire discussion, and I wonder why people act as if they are more important than others are. I am not in the least offended. Someone has to stand up for what is right and tell it like it is! Hooray to you, NrrDfenZ!!

This is an interesting topic and in my opinion people do things for self-gain and self-benefit.
Nobody I believe has ever done something without expecting something in return, this could be for reputation, respect, popularity, etc. The benefit could also be emotional.
Everything we do is done to benefit us in some way.
A person who is very loving towards his parents is doing so because they are receiving many benefits and privileges from their parents and of course they want that to continue.
We as people are very egotistic and I think it is inherited in everyone of us as a form of survival.
Another example: a person see's a homeless man on the street, the man gives the homeless person money and drives on. Why did he do this... ?
This man is either a believer in the Law of attraction and is giving in his belief that he will soon receive. this energy which he is creating will manifest in his life.
The man could be giving in order to feel better about himself and feel as if he is making a difference.
If the man gave the homeless man money and got no positive emotional feeling in return, the man would not of done this so called selfless act.

hiii dear friend in my view...Not all persons are felfish..Some people are there they work behalf of the other one..they wont save the money what they earn they will spend them for poor people..I saw a person who spend half of his earned money for the poor people..I like such a kind of persons..I am also doing now some kind of social service that is collecting money from people and spending them for the poor people..That is who dont have money...I will like doing social sevice..Gud posting my dear friend..happy mylotting..have a nice day...

yes, i am a gree with u.not all people are selfish.the company whose firing people not selfish.they just no other choice.it's condition people make that hard decision.in my place where i worked, they cut our salary 10% to avoid firing. so sad.cos our salary has been small.but we can't do anything.we can't angry.cos we know, my company has been in crisis.but sometimes i get angry with my company too.cos sometime they just cut their employee without any reason and any fault.though the employee have been long time worked at there. like what happen with my friend yesterday.well they never firing but they just order the employee make resign letter.

hi..my friend,i call u like this if u don'mind.i know what u worried about.indeed,some of them are turly selfish in some cases,but not always.the facts which experienced by u were took pains too,but things cannot be done if them beyoung your ability. once someone said to me,if there was no other keys to the situation,mabybe the one being used was the best key.we can not judge that is right or false but we can make it when it is within our ability.
