They find a food that people love! For example, (the McRib, from McDonalds) and then take it away. And bring it back for a limited time once a year...but it doesnt taste the same as it used too!
It isnt just McDonalds though it all of them...The commercials, Its back! For a limited time only!
What they dont tell you is its made cheaper and smaller and will taste nothing like you remembered! lol
Why do they do that? Does it bug anyone else?
I mean I am not a fast food junkie or anything, in fact I eat at home most of the time, but I was just curious after watching one of the "its back" commercials!

I remember I used to work at McDonald's when the McRib first came out back in the 90's. I loved them. I did not keep eating them when they went away and came back, but I did get one last year and I hated it. It tasted nothing like I remembered it tasting.

Burger King does this too... they had a great mushroom and swiss burger that they rotate every year, but this time... they changed it! They put the A1 sauce on it like their other steakhouse burgers.
-_- So annoying. I wish companies didn't do that!

Money. They say that a lot of different companies are motivated by money. Well, that is certainly true. "It's Back" is a way to get people who liked the original to come in and spend their money on it. This happens with other companies too. One that comes to mind real quick is Schwann's. This frozen food company that brings food to your door has a lot of items that they run as yearly specials or that they "bring back". That way they can get the sales from the product and make a big deal, often bringing in other sales.
McDonald's for example. Dad has to have a McRib that is here only for a limited time. He brings in his whole family and McDonald's makes several sales that would have eaten at home had dad not had to have his sandwich.

I suppose it's their way of 'trying' out something new. If it's really a hit they might keep it on the menu. After all if nobody wanted the quarter pounder a zillion years ago it wouldn't be on there anymore.
Another thing is that maybe there are certain times of the year where they try to boost sales by having something special/different on the menu. I'm still not too sure if I really want onion rings on a BK burger though. The fast food joints aren't all that fast here and when you ask for an order of onion rings you usually get them by the time you've had the rest and went to the ladies and really just want to leave...So I wonder how long it would take to get their current special with two onion rings on it! he he he

i don't notice that they will take away and just bring them back but not as much as good as the first one. cause i don't actually don't buy those things that they promote. i just eat mostly that i just buy those old menu's. i feel that those in promo are quite expensive that those regular things that they sell.

Hello stacyv81
I am not a fast food junkie too. I am not attracted by those "its back" commercials. I agree that they often don't taste same as before, but I don't like they focus on us. You know there's always people attracted by new products, as long as they think the product is new to them, they will go there for a trial. I am the one, I will not come back for second trial, but I may go there for ONE trial.
And the "its back" may be very attractive to a fast food junkie, consider this kind of customer, the fast food shop won't stop this game.
Happy myLotting:))

I think maybe they are trying something more fresh by try to rotate the old recipe but with new look. For my opinions, it's fine. Nobody did able to make success in one try right...LOL. It's probably annoying for us the customer, but hey it's the only way they can get fixed recipe that will brought more profit. And of course they will not reveal that it will not taste like we used to know..LOL..otherwise they will make a long list in commercials, and people might don't want to buy it again..
