Which clothes should I wear when I'm a bridesmaid for my friend

One of my friends will get marriaged next month,she askes me taking part in her wedding as a bridesmaid,I'm very happy and honoured.
So I want to go shopping to buy beautiful clothes and make up myself.But I don't know which type should I buy? Now it's in spring, but it's still a little cold and I also don't know the weather on the wedding day.
So can you give me some suggestions?Thanks very much!

Well I always thought it was up to the bride to give the idea of what she wants, I know when I was a bridesmaid she wanted the two bridesmaids to wear green, and i hate green and said no I would rather not but she kept at me and I was her bridesmaid and I did have to wear green, so maybe you should see if the bride to be wants anything special.

Thanks,but we can wear any clothes that we like by ourselvies.I only want to a compfortable and fitting clothes.
