hi lotter's My dog pepper is not gaining wieght and when she eats to fast she vomits. she has a breathing problem as well, sounds like she is growling most of time when her mouth is closed. Any ideas on how to get her to gain wieght? i have tried to give her soft food every other day, it seemed to do well with the vomitting. did not help with gaining wieght. She is a pitbull mix and wieghs roughly 38lbs she is really underwieght . when we got her she was barely 29.6 lbs was starved locked in a house with six pups. The manager at a gas station was giving them away because they where her sons dogs and also were bieng investigated for animal cruelty so i took one pup and the mom, eventually could not keep both so the baby pup went to my in laws and she stayed. Any advice on how to get her to gain? and any advice on getting her to eat more slowly? At this time any advice on how to get her to bulk up in wieght will help. thanks for reading lotter's

I have a pit mix also and we just went through this with her for over a year. We took her to get wormed when she was a puppy but didn't follow up with it and come to find out she had a tape worm! It was getting all of her food! I'm not sure if this is the case with your pup but after getting rid of Chelci's worms she is starting to fill out and doesn't look like she's knocking on deaths door and she isn't throwing up now either!

When did you get the dog? If she is new to you , it might just be because she was starved and she thinks her food is going to be taken away . If you have had her for awhile and she is still doing this it could be something else wrong . I would take her to a vet as soon as you can. With her history of being neglected and abused , there are a number of things that can be wrong with her . I wish you luck. It was kind of you to take her in . Hopefully you will find out the cause and get her healthy soon.

ncmomof3, thanks for your responce i will try that, maybe there is something that the vet missed well i got her march of 2008. It has been a year since she had went to the vet,It was madatory becuase of the circumstance's of how i obtained her. so i will try that then if i dont see any improvements i am going to have to take her to the vet and figure something else out to do, but worms make since though cause she eats alot but seems as though she dont get full. thanks again for your advice and time. ama101
