Water or H2O is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. These can readily demonstrated by electrolysis or the decomposition or breaking down the molecules of water with the use of electricity. This can be done by simply submerging two electrodes connected to the positive and negative terminal of a battery into a glass of tap water. Bubbles will be created releasing pure oxygen in one terminal and pure hydrogen in the other. If we measure the volume of gas released, will reveal hydrogen is twice as much produced as compared to oxygen, thereby supporting the idea that hydrogen has two atoms and 1 oxygen in water. We all know that hydrogen atoms are bonded to in oxygen in water. Thus resulting to the chemical formula "HOH", we all know that atoms can form either covalent or ionic bonds to form molecules. In water, hydrogen and oxygen interact with each other through polar covalent bonding, wherein two elements share a pair of electrons and each atom contributes one electron to the pair. So hydrogen bonds by sharing an its electron with oxygen.

I believe that water is composed of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. Is that correct? Cheers!!
