I am very worried about our surroundings, so as our everyday climate. It keeps on getting warmer. But why do our government not doing anything to stop those manufacturers making plastics, styrofor, and other harmful chemicals that destroys our environment, especially the ozone layer, stops burning our virgin forest. What can we possibly do so that we can save our planet from going hotter and destroyed in the future? Do you have any suggestions to stop all these menace so that we can have a healthy planet?

I do think about this and I am mindful of climate change. There is so much information on the tv now about this, especially the news. They say that we are getting close to the point of no return. We have such a long way to go in order to reach the targets. There was a news report recently on sky news that mentioned that the effects that would take place would be far more serious than expected. Anyway, I guess I'm doing my little bit, you can only do so much as an individual. I cycle on a regular basis. I don't want to sound like I'm coming from a position of doom and gloom but I really don't think that planet Earth is going to be able to return from this. I hope that I'm wrong but the future looks very very bleak! Andrew

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your response. Do not feel sorry for all of us because development has its good effect, but this is one of the bad effects of development.
We can still go back to old days climate of freshness. The key to all these problems are in the hands of all concern individuals who are really concern about the earth's situation.

Thank you for your response. By the way comment my opinion, it seems to me that you are just trying to evaluate what you have learn from the past, and just added what you could imagine might happened to earth in the future. That is your point of view.

I don't think that the planet earth can really be destroyed by humans. We are just going to change it dramatically. It's humans that might not recover, in my opinion. And to be honest I don't think it's outside of nature for humans to wipe themselves out. Has anyone seen "The Future is Wild"? Give it a few thousand years after we have done what we will do to end all and the earth will grow a totally new ecosystem that is well suited to it's state at that time. New animals and plants will arise and it will be a completely different planet. There have been events in earth's history that did in only moments WAY more damage than we've done in 100 years. And well here we are alive and kicking now. I'm almost intrigued to see what the earth would be like without humans. I try to remember that it's not really our planet. We are after all outnumbered a million to one by the rest of the animal kingdom, trillions to one if you count the bacteria, fungus and yeast. Just seems sort of insignificant if the enviroment didn't support humans anymore. We are just another natural disaster, just a really slow one. sorry if this offends anyone, I swear I am not a nihlist.

I agree that humans must find a more harmonious way to interact with the earth. however getting rid of plastic can't really be an option at this point. Consider how important plastic is to the medical community alone. Ever piece of test equipment, containers, tubes, bandages, goggles, gowns, tape, incubators, heart pumps, replacement body parts, replacement internal body parts, contacts! the list could go for miles. not to mention the computer you are using right now is made almost entirely out of plastics and really really toxic metals like copper. So what I think needs done is a new system of appropriate use of our resources. Making sure that we prioritize what is used and how could make a significant difference. And consumers have most of the power. Just like the consumer body letting the gas get jacked up by not fighting back, we are just letting ourselves get fed fall apart items at huge profit margins to the producers. We must begin demanding higher quality and longer lasting items so we aren't filling our landfills with dioxin spewing plastic bottles and furniture. We must demand reusable products that can hold up like our grandparents had. Producing glass products is super expensive and creates seriously evil chemical vapors that slaughter the air. Let's just start making good plastic products. I must stop my rant before I go too far. I feel like there is soooo much more to be said though. thanks

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your response. You are right that almost all of our daily needs are from plastics and byproducts, but there goes a saying that all could be well if done in moderation.

Thank you for the response. I am sorry that now was my only time to read your opinion. We have many things to do that electricity is not a must. I can do home
chores with my two hands and two feet with out sacrificing our electric bills and more so to our surroundings. Even if we are doing all these things, somehow there are still many people who do not do what are good for the environment because they burned their waste plastic products in their backyards or spray aerosols. I wish these types of people would listen to the clamor of everybody.

Moderation is indeed a beautiful thing Berting. The crazy thing is that humans unlike all of the other animals are capable of intelligence overcoming instinct, and yet we still let so many primal urges control us. Does anyone really need a flamboyant and tactless inflatable giant snow globe for christmas just so they can out christmas the neighbors. It's tacky and a pretty darned terrible use of our resources. Do any of us actually need all of the extra furnishings in our cars to get anywhere. It just seems to me that it's not the products that are the problem, but as you said "moderation" or a lack of moderation that is the problem. I just don't understand how intelligent creatures let things turn into this rapidly disposable product society. And don't even get me started on Walmart(petro-mart). I am really glad that you posted this topic. Totally my hero.

I am concerned tyoo, I recently watched Algore's movie An Inconvenient truth and it was mind blowing. Based on his studies for environment this movie highlights the slow impact of waether changes we are witnessing. Infact I live in Sikkim and in one year I have seen such a big weather change, last year it snowed in the month of March this year it snowed only for three days in the winter and now weather is too hot and we are facing water scarcity as all the falls are drying up. If it does not rrain in summer too as it usually does its goign to have a huge impact here. It had a climate which was either rainy or winter and we needed no fans but this year its so hat that we do need fan up here at the hieght of 6,500 Its worrying thing to happen and I hope we do something about it too. Let us at least plant more trees if nothing else.

Thank you for the response. You can also be aware of all these things by limiting your usage of electrical gadgets and appliances at home or at your office.

Mindful, yes. I've made notes and observations about the local changes and odd new records of extreme global weather, as it's happened.
Why are our governments not doing anything? They're doing little things, though I'm not sure if they've got a "worst case scenario" plan yet for the event that climate change switches from subtle and slow to extreme.
As for the rest, alot of the stuff can't be regulared and must be left up to the people to change. Alot of people are trying to change it, but like all forms of activism and political statement; it's gradual too.
Stop the bad crap for the environment and change the future? I say we need to live our example so that others may see and follow suit. To turn your life into a voice for nature and the environment in general. I observe, discuss, and farm (small organic microfarm!)...and encourage others to invite nature into their lives. I applaud those who live WITH nature, as well.
Our earth will be here after we're gone. It's not earth we should be worrying about...it's ourselves. Everything we do takes away resources which may be vital to our survival later on. Like it or not, we NEED nature to like us...because without it we WILL perish. Like that fact or no, we should probably pay more attention than we do.

Thank you very much for your response. I love to make something lively, like creating a garden with vegetations, some fruit bearing shrubs, trees, and various herbs. I discard all plastic products by burying it underground instead of burning it out. I made a soil by adding some egg shells as fertilizer to my greeneries. Some of my neighbors are already coping of what I do because it not only helped in in improving the beauty our place, it also help our places to be more refreshing during the hot noontime and afternoon climate. It also make us save some money because of the vegetables, the herbs, and other fruits are just harvested in our own backyards, without the harmful insecticides from the farm growers, that can be eaten fresh and good for the health of everybody. I wish that you have also some vegetations in your own backyard.

Due to individual and collective greed, govts around the world do little or nothin to stop the production of this harmful chemicals that destroy our ozone. If they do some politicians lose their investments, and some of this politicians run the govts..so wat do ya expect?

Thank you for the reponse. You have a fearless comment that pinpoints government people. You are true to your views because some of them really protects their investments in it and some are protecting the money of promenient individuals
who protect their political carriers. As the saying goes GIVE AND TAKE.

Dear Friend,
Thank you for the response. We also have to do something that would also help nature by not using our appliances frequently, because it can help make our surroundings feel cooler.

Well, aside from proper waste disposal, recycling and planting trees, I have heard that little usage of electricity also helps, I'm a little uncertain how though, we could convince people to use as little electricity as possible... haha

yes, i am mindful of climate change. i think we should not be too dependent on our government to stop climate change. we can actually start within our homes. if at least every home would start their part in conserving energy and help educate other people, we can actually make a difference. Here are a few tips:
1. turn of lights when not in use, tv, radio, computer and other appliances
2. conserve water while taking a bath or washing dishes, use a pail instead of shower
3. plant a tree or 2 in your backyard
4. reuse plastics
5. segregate trash
6. bring your own bags when doing your grocery
7. bring your own cup when buying coffee from a coffee shop
8. do not get souvenirs from the beach or from diving and snorkeling
9. avoid buying exotic pets

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your response. I also do what you have done, but do other people does it? Others may do it, but they tend to used aerosoles, and they burned
plastics in their garbage out in their backyards.

should stop the industialization and civilization which is impossible to active because they are too many interests at stake. It should only take a step back, usa and invest in alternative energy resources, reduce consumption of oil, fuel and harmful to he earth and our health. Increasing awareness campaingns and they are ourselves not to throw a card to earth and respect nature, not a single drop makes the sea, but with so many.

Dear Friend,
Thank you for the response. We can not afford to stop development, but as you have mentioned precautionary usages of energy like oil, should be minimized to
safeguard the ozone's depletion.
