My friend called and she wants to move this way (about 1500 miles from where we used to live). She wants to know can she stay with us while she and her husband get jobs and a place to stay.
I really like her, but I don't like her husband, and her kids are all high maintenance. I told her she had 4 weeks. I am afraid that once she is here, she will just stay and stay.
My husband is not thrilled, but he agreed to 4 weeks.
What would you do?

I would not do this at all. More than likely you will lose your friend. Your husband however has the right idea of a time limit. Watch and see how that will run out.

DO NOT DO THIS! I repeat....DO NOT DO THIS!
I did and it came back to bite me in the A$$. I let a guy I had been friends with for a long time move into my home with his girlfriend and two dogs. They were supposedly only going to stay here for a couple of weeks while looking for a job and a place to stay. They mooched off us for over two months! When it was all said and done, he ended up ripping me out of $1,300 and leaving town to move to Seattle or somewhere out there. I haven't seen or heard from him since. It turns out that he was running from and bunch of bad credit and debt from up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He had screwed over a couple of landlords up there, and had also ran up a bunch of other bills that he had NO intention to pay, then he moved to Florida and did the same thing here. I am sure he is probably doing the same thing to landlords and other companies where ever they are living now. It is definitely for the best, that we are no longer friends though. I know now that he is nothing but a deadbeat. I just hope he isn't taking advantage of someone else now the way he did myself and my family.
Take some advice from someone who has been there...DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE TO MOVE INTO YOUR HOME...
