Being a mom is really a wonderful experience. Cuddling a baby in your arms is really an undescribable happiness. But there are times when you look at the mirror and realized that you gained a lot of weight. The curves in your body are now love handles. No matter how you exercise you can't make your tummy go back the way it used to be when you were still single? Do you have any tips on how to achieve a sexier body after birth especially on the tummy area? Thanks...

I know this is true!I have four kids. After my first three I lost the weight right away. I did this by dangerous diets, and excercise routines. I lost the 50 pounds too quick, within a few months. Now I too am trying again to lose the pounds. I joined a gym almost a year ago. I found out that some of the best things to do are excercises that can trim your body fat. Because, this level measure of water percentage, fat, and muscle content in your body has an effect on your outer package. Meaning you may not lose weight but trim your abs. Overall, the healthier you are the lower your overall BMI will be. The machines in the gym I like for this area are: Any type of Aerobics Machine: A treadmill, a StairClimber, or Automatically moving heart rate controlling endurance.. Do this about four times a week at 30 minuets to 1 hour and this can jump start the process to lose weight, and tone your body. Next are the trigger machines which focus on the abs. Sometimes it is hard for mommies to use the weights when doing the crunch devices. If it too much, start with simple sit ups. Amazingly the repition amount and the quaility of the crunch is the result founding movement. Even a tiny, half crunch in twenty sets repeated for six to ten times in the moarning can bring on the burn. That is the best measure to see results. Feel the burn!

I have to say congratulations on the baby, what a wonderful thing. I would suggest going down to your local gym and asking a trainer for exercises you can do at home. Making it to the gym is nearly impossible with a baby. You can even phone a local gym and tell them where you need improvement and what you want to achieve and they will give you exercises that will help those target spots. Best thing I ever invested in is an exercise ball, a short circle and band and a long band. They do WONDERS! I am only 24 but I do have a child and I have to work around her schedual but those 3 things are great. I have a better body than I did before I had him!! Also my diet was a huge part of it, I eat healthier and only when I'm hungry. hope that helps!

Love your avatar.
I was in my twenties when I got pregnant. The day I found out I was three weeks pregnant and I was 180 pounds. I've always been a big girl. The day I delivered I weighed 240 pounds and I was all belly. I looked like humpty dumpty. I layed on the floor every day three times a day and did sit ups plus I walked every day and it didn't take long my flabby tummy went back to shape. Now more than 30 years later if I layed on the floor I probably couldn't get back up never mind do a sit up. LOL. Best regards and have a Great Day.

Me, after giving birth I was able to put my tummy back the way it used to be. Uhhhmm probably because I keep on walking and traveling. I'm a working mom and it takes a lot of walking from where I live before I reach the bus station. And it took me hours to get into the office. So maybe it is walking that keeps me fit and to have a flat tummy. I am also fond of drinking juices and eating quaker oats, which are really good when you want to be slim. Try walking for atleast 30 minutes a day. Eat fruits and fiber rich foods too. Good Luck! May you attain the body you desires to have.

Oh yeah thanks. When I became a mom, I just stays at home taking care of my baby. So I don't walk that much only around the house. And I tend to eat my daughters leftover foods. Maybe that the reason why I never get back into shape. I will remember the things that you said. Thanks again.

the consolation to that sagging tummy is even movie stars, (most of them at least) with the exception of madonna and denise richards, never get to have the same tummy they used to have before they had gotten pregnant. even if those movie stars have personal trainers and special diets and tend to achieve their post-pregnancy weight the tummy is still rounded even with the girdles and all. look at the styles of gowns and even ordinary clothes these celebrities wear after giving birth. a cut of cloth or a distraction of an accessory is always placed at the tummy area.
this had been a problem of mine also. i used to have a 26 inch waistline at 103 lbs. before i had gotten pregnant. now, i'm 104 lbs. with a 30 inch waist. but you know what? fate always has a reason for making things happen: most moms are not teens. this new full form, even with minimal body weight, tends to eliminate the young style of clothes that would look appropriate on us. my shirt then, even in my late twenties was small (teen / young brands). now, it's xl with the same brands. am about to go to older brands which i own some items in size small.
you forgot the sagging arms. anyway, the principle is still the same :)

Thank you for sharing your story with me. My problem is my tummy. My arms, legs, butt, hips are ok. I used to have a 23 inch waistline at 100lbs. Now I'm 110 with a 32 inch waist. Well, we can choose clothes that will make us look sexy. lol! I used to drink a herbal tea, I just don't know if it's effective.

congratulations!your baby must be very lovely. and i am sure the situation u r facing now,is also the same problem to most mums who just gave birth to a new baby.mum is great! and if u want to keep fit after birth, there is no more choice than to take exercises, coz it is a healthy way to lose weight. and to the tummy, you'd better do aerobic respiration sports, like to turn your lumbar.

Hi, Niah1976! I love your avatar! It is very pretty! I was thinking about getting an Ab Rocker. I have some baby weight on my stomach that I want to lose. I look at my beautiful children, and then I look at my body.. Oh what childbirth can do. I am really considering getting on the NutriSystem. And the SlimQuick Hoodia Powder packets. I want to lose all of my baby weight. I hope that you can lose yours too! Good Luck!

Niah-
Congratulations on being a mommy! The first thing to remember is it took you 9 months to get there! Dont' expect to drop the mommy weight overnight, so don't be too hard on yourself. When working the tummy or core muscles you want to make sure you are working all of the muscles, not just the abs. Anyone can do general crunches all day long, have a 6 pack, and still have a "pouch". You want to make sure to work the obliques as well as your back muscles. The obliques pull it up and back, and the back muscles aid the core front muscles in stability. You might want to find a stability ball to work with. Most come with a dvd to show you how to do the exercises using it. You can also try Baby yoga so that you and your little one get a good work out. Also add in the cardio though because as said, you can have a six pack but if you don't do cardio you are not burning off any fat. (You need an aerobic exercise to burn).
