Live-in partners

I live with my boyfriend, we have lived together for a year and a half. I think the main reason that we are not married is because we dont feel the need to. Marriage these days isnt the same as it used to be and it costs a lot of money, money that at the moment I would rather put towards the bigger house that we both want.

I'm an investor, i.e there are many chances as well as many risks in my business. I don't get married because I don't want my present partner to take in charge when I become bankrupt.

I lived with my husband for 2 years before we got married. We did this because I promised my dad I would not marry until I was 21. I was only 20 when we went ahead and got married, I realized that my dad shouldn't have asked this of me when I was 12 and since he stopped supporting me (financialy and emotionally) before I turned 18 the promise was no longer valid.
