I wish more people would spayed or nuture their pets! We have so many unwanted animals around it is insane! I would also like people to catch feral cats and have them fixed to! Then there would be less feral cats around! It would control their population!

Both of our dogs are fixed.
What I wish is that people who own cats and then decide to not own cats would not dump them in my neighborhood. I have nothing against them but I cannot afford to feed tham and the county will not pick them up and so they starve. There is also nothing in my area to help ofset the cost of having them fixed and so that is not a posibility either.

Sorry to hear you problem! I wish cat people all would take care of their cats and fix them! I also hate when people get animals they can't afford or don't want and then dump them! I sure these owners wouldn't like it if they were dumped out on the street like their pets! Maybe then they'd look at things differently!

I wish people realized how vital it is to spay and neuter.
I recently had a discussion with a person that has a cat that has had five litters of kittens. They have many excuses as to why they have not spayed their cat. There is financial aid for altering animals. I have gotten two cats in this apartment complex altered.
What aggravated me was that they couldn't seem to understand that their cat continuing to have kittens displaces cats that are in shelters and need homes. They give them to people that are as irresponsible as they are and they end up getting hit by cars and killed; eaten by coyotes or possibly picked up for pitbull "bait", plus the new owners don't spay and neuter. The whole ignorance of it really angers me. We have twelve cats (all "fixed") that have a cat-fenced yard that makes it safe for them to go outside. I wish people would have more of a sense of responsibility when it comes to animals.

I'm right with you on this one. In the UK, animal rescue centres get incenced by this mindless 'animal lover' mentality that prevents people spaying their animals. Especially cats. They go on the prowl, looking for a mate, next thing you know they're lying by the side of the road dying because of the car they just met.
I own rabbits and am about to get the female spayed (although I don't have to, as she's with a neutered male bunny)Reason beng, we haven't got an entire male to put her with and it's driving her mad - she keeps having phantom pregnancies and is at risk of cancer because of it. A stallion who isn't gelded is a danger to any woman in his yard who is on her period. A dog who hasn't been 'done' will mount everything in sight, including young children. I've had experience of all of this.
Finally, has anyone here ever seen the state a young female cat, scarcely out of kittenhood, gets into after she's been raped by half the Toms in the neighbourhood? Nature? Yes, maybe. But my daughter is just 10 years old, and is already developing into a woman. I got her first 'real' bra yesterday and this morning she had her first period. She's only a child and doesn't understand why this is happening to her - maybe I should tell her it is only God's way, and that if anybody makes a move on her she should just get on with it and breed?

I wholeheartedly agree with that, especially at the moment, because a new cat has moved in somewhere nearby, and has been coming through our cat-flap and spraying everywhere. I don't know how to stop it because he comes during the night, so I'm not there to shoo him off. I can't lock the catflap because then our cats wouldn't be able to get in and out. I'm just hoping that he does it in his own home, then maybe his owners will get him neutered!

It's really sad the number of feral cats that there and most have to be put down when caught. Our cat is spayed (I think that's what you do to a female). I think you're right though, we should be fixing our animals unless we're going to breed for a dog show or such. It would stop the number of animals being dumped into pounds each year. And I also think that unless you are going to become a show person with your dog or cat, you should get all of your animals from adoption services. There are lots of animals out there that need good homes, especially special needs animals.
