Do you have a favorite area in Walmart that you like to shop?

I have discovered the $5.00 box of DVD's in Walmart and I have so much fun rooting through the pile looking for movies I would like but never got around to buying. I can spend an hour with my head stuck in that box and not realize how much time has gone by! Do you shop for things at Walmart where you can get lost in a time warp? If so, what grabs your attention?

The craft section of course! But then the best thing about the store is that it offers one-stop shopping. You can get just about everything you need from groceries to curtains to motor oil in the same place.

When I was finally able to move in to my apartment I wanted one of those window shades that doesn't let light through. I couldn't find one anyplace and then on a whim I checked walmart. Home Depot did sell them but they were way more expensive and you had to get someone to cut it to the right size. The one from walmart is self-adjusting.

I haven't been in the craft section for a while. Every time I get home I am reminded that I need a window blind and then I forget to measure the window. I have noticed that Walmart carries more window sizes than competitor stores in our neighborhood.

That is exactly the my same favorite section! Only at my walmart it's a shelf so it's easier to browse. Last Christmas I bought my son some old 'Howdy Doody' Shows for 5 dollars from there. Hehe. He is only a year old and I know that show is a little out of style now... but I couldn't resist! I've always had the mental picture in my head of having a little boy that would sit in front of the tv wearing his lil cowboy hat and watching old cowboy type shows. I have a daughter that L-O-V-E-S the Lone Ranger shows. Hehe. I'm going to have to show her how my dad taught me to make lone ranger masks when I was a little girl! I hear that he did it when he was young and a neighbor saw him riding his bike around town with it on and called his mom freaking out and telling her that my dad was riding a bike blindfolded! Haha. Anyhow. Yes, I do love that 5 dollar movie rack. My daughters have found many a movie there and usually if you find a movie on the 7 to 13 dollar rack and tell them that you found it on the 5 dollar rack they will give it to you for the 5 dollars. Actually that is what happened when we went to buy The Cat in The Hat. Clara found it on the 5 dollar rack and we brought it to the front. They rung it up for $7.50 and I told them to go ahead and put it back. Clara was in tears! The lady looked at her and looked at me and asked me if I would have bought it if it had been 5 dollars. I looked at my money and looked at her and said yes, the 5 dollars totally fit my budget, but $7.50 does not. She looked at Clara again and shrugged. 'It's our mistake that it was on the wrong shelf.' and she rerang it up for 5 dollars! Hehe. Actually, I think that movie is offically on the 5 dollar rack now! But, ours has gotten so much use. Everybody thought we were the cool family for having that movie! Hehe. I love the 5 dollar movie rack.

Isn't it nice that we can treat the kids to something nice without having to spend an arm and a leg? I have to restrain myself and keep it to one or two DVDs per month.

We have the 2 movie rule. Since Clara is 6 and Patsy and Marcus are 3 and 1 respectivly. She gets to pick out the kids movie for the month. I get to pick out the mommie movie of the month, but more often than not it ends up being a kids movie that I watched in my youth and Clara just turns her nose up at it in the store, but ends up watching that one a lot too! Haha. Once in a while I pick out a very mommie movie too. But, I don't run across to many that I'm willing to risk little ones hopping out of bed to ask mommie a question while she is in the middle of whatching her movie! haha.

Isn't if fun that no matter what line of products we are attracted to, that there are choices and we can browse through them. Thank you for your answer.

I don't think I have ventured into the shoe department. That will be a spot to hit on my next trip. The jewelry sounds good too. I haven't shopped for clothes lately at all. I have a stock of stuff for right now. Happy Walmarting!

We were just in the garden section the other day and it seemed like someone just stole the afternoon. I was surprised to see organic seeds, too. The fountains were so enticing.

I'm the type of person who likes to roam around evey section of the store looking for good sales, and if I have the money I will buy some things that were not on my list.

Hi Irishmist. I think that is part of my problem is that I don't make a list. This week there was a group of DVDs for Easter. I could not pass up Ben-Hur for $7.50. That was not on my list at all.

I like walking through the reduced aisles. Usually, the aisles are full of nothing but toys but sometimes if you look hard enough you can find other items that they have reduced and put there. Also, I do like looking through the $5 DVDs. I actually haven't found anything there yet that I'd like to buy but it's always interesting to look through them to see what I can find. In general, looking through the electronics department is always nice. Usually, I can find a cheap game or something there that interests me. For instance, right after Christmas they were selling a whole thing of $10 nintendo DS games when those games usually went for $20 or more.

I missed the after Christmas sale. I love my DS and like to pick games up from time to time.
I like looking through the clearance too, but for some reason I'm always drawn to the DVD box. I did find the old "Adventures of Robin Hood," 39 episodes, for five dollars. Can you believe that a program had 39 episodes for one season in the 1950's and 60's. Poor actors didn't get much of a break. I also found "Second Hand Lions" for me and the family. We all love that movie. I can also justify a good chic flick at such good prices.

I always get my walmart fix on the weekends with my mom. We do like the five dollar movie bin as well. We have puchased some movies from in there and we do watch them so its a good thing to have. We shop there for alot of things, clothes, toys, makeup, groceries, vitamins, dog food and so much more. We also go down the clearnace isle when you can get down it of course. But i dont think i have a favorite section at the store at all because we go through it all most of the time. Its funny to say that walmart does have clearance sections, but you can enjoy having to not spend so much money on things. Happy Mylotting

I think I am going to have to give myself more time when going to Walmart and venture into the other areas, especially the clearance section. I can't cut the time I spend in the DVD box.
