ummmm yes I know a girl that does this and it drives me up the wall. You'd think if you ignored someone they would get the hint, but she doesn't so I have to get up and leave the room if I want to have any kind of meaningful conversation. How can a person not see how rude they are being??

It has happened. I ususally just put up my hand to signal "wait" and continue my phone conversation. If it looks important I put the conversation on hold to see how important what the person's saying is.

I run into this problem all the time, I call my husbands friend about something, and his girlfriend starts chattering in the background. I hate this, I'm calling to talk to him, not her. She never gets the hints of being told to go do something else, while we are talking. I wish he would put a muzzle on her, while he's on the phone!!

I know exactly what you mean...that drives me crazy!! You have no idea what the person on the phone has said to you either.
