Hi everyone! I live in Mexico near the ocean and would love to buy a rose bush.
There are people around here with beautiful rose bushes for sale , but I'm wondering if it would survive here . I'm also wondering what special care roses need. Since this seems to be a wonderful place for advice on almost anything I thought I would come to all of you. Do you grow roses ? Could you give me any
advice on growing them .Thanks for your responses and your help .

I don't know much about the Mexican climate, but I'm making an assumption that if you're near the ocean, you'd get a bit of moisture from it?
If not, then here are some good tips from me, a landscaper:
1. Plant a rose bush where it will get roughly an equal amount of sun and shade.
2. When planting the bush, use a triple mix soil, this will help it transplant a little easier.
3. Make sure that you purchase a transplanter liquid made for roses, and use it when you've planted the bush, this will help it take to its new environment after transplantation.
4. Deep water it once you've planted it. Water it for at least 5 minutes so the water gets down to the roots. Even if it's wet on the surface, you could put your finger into the soil and find it bone dry.
5. Water it at least 2-4 times a week, keep an eye on the soil and watch for dryness. If it gets too dry, then the bush will start wilting.
You should have a beautiful rose bush if you follow my advice.

Hi kris , Thank you soo much for your help ! I doubt I will be able to find those things here for transplanting , but I will look at Home Depot and a couple other places. Thank you again for responding. Hopefully I will be able to have pretty roses after all . Have a good night kris .

You're quite welcome.
The soil you'll be able to find at Home Depot, the transplanter you'll have to go to a specialty shop for. I'm not sure what specialty garden centers you have down there, but if you do have any, go there and talk to someone who deals with roses and they can tell you what kind of transplanter you'll need.
