I am searching for a new job as the old one has evaporated. The financial institutions for which I was working has pack itself up. I have applied two times without any response. One of my friend said that do include the cover letter when applying. What do you think is it necessary to use the cover letter?

Most of the time, it is necessary, and don't forget to give it a proper name. Then the hr could distinguish it from others' or other files easily. The first impression and your attitude is very important for getting an interview chance. With best wishes for the job.

A cover letter would be good because you can state why you would be an asset to the company. Cheers!!

Yes, a cover letter is more personal than simply submitting a resume. If you're interested in applying for a specific position this is your initial opportunity to say something positive and, hopefully, interesting about yourself. Look online for examples of cover letters if you're unsure how to compose one.
