I want to mention that I've had a number of guinea pigs in my time, so I'm familiar with their on again / off again bubbly spells, but I have a couple of new guinea pigs, who are now about 5 or so months old now. The one is nice and calm, mellow, but the other one is driving me absolutely nuts. She is excessively hyperactive; in the cage, outside of the cage, when I'm trying to hold her. I try to let them out to run around for about an hour a couple of times a day, and tv/music/people talking or any other sort of stimulation only seems to get her more excited. lol It's like she thinks she's a puppy. Does any one have more suggestions on how I can wear her out, or keep her entertained?

LOL! I just pet sat for a pair of guinea pigs that were both like that. One is about 6 months old and one 3 months old. They were running laps, popcorning all over the cage, and just never stopped being active. Constant wheeking noises and activity. I'd hold them and they'd run off within minutes or if I made them stay with me they'd nip until I let them explore the house.
Some pigs are just like that really, but they generally mellow out with age. These two were hilarious though, running all over the cage (I have an 11 square foot cage) and jumping on top of the houses too! Their owner said they normally have a ramp which wears them out faster I guess.
Maybe you should try adding a ramp too your cage? Or if your cage is smaller than 6 square feet, try adding onto it. Go to www.guineapigcages.com for suggestions on how to do this for cheap. I build all my own cages using their guides.
