I would also suggest an HP Compaq. Pluss you can allways upgrade later. It can be expensive to build your own machine, so starting with a prebuilt deal is not such a bad idea for a new pc.

I personally have a Dell computer. It works fast and well for me I use it everyday for work and also for personal things. It comes with Windows Vista. I've also had an apple computer but didn't like it as much. However, those are the only types of computers I have had. Some people might like different kinds, you can always search on the internet for reviews on all desktop computer and see the pros and cons of each one and see what other people have to say about them. if u have a good budget then u can go for HP-COMPAQ...but if u want a hi-fi PC then u should customize ur PC...I mean u should buy an assembled PC by choosing hi-fi hardware...like Intel Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2, 2-4GB RAM, 256-512MB Graphic Card etc...it's on u if u want a HOME-PC or GAMER-PC[;)]
