I have a half siberian husky/wolf dog. She is the love of my life! She is so smart and gentle with my son. Husky's are great dogs to have. They are so beautiful and she is so smart it blows my mind! They listen quite well and get along with other dogs and people. She rarely barks and is always ready to play when appropriate. Does anyone else have any huskys?

Don't they still have a lot of wolf instinct? Are they good for kids?

I've never had a problem with her, she is 8. She has been amazing with my son (who is only 2 1/2). She was bought it in a very trusworthy and great family as a puppy and they were treated right. She was trained very well and I believe they are fine with children. We have other children over often and she is fine with them. We do however put her outside if there are a lot of people over. She is big so she stays outside most of the time.

Do they have to be in cold enviroments? I am in Oklahoma and Costa Rica - It gets pretty hot here.

i live in Canada and the winters are cold but summers are quite hot and she is ok. We shave her in the summer so she isn't so hot and make sure there is plenty of shade in the yard for her and sometimes bring her inside where it's air conditioned

I don't have a husky but my daughter has one and it is a female, she is very gentle too and loving, she hardly ever barks, but man does she like to talk. She will hold a conversation with you in Siberian all day long if you talk to her. She loves the outside, love to dig holes in the yard.
I love my grand dog. I have a picture of her on my profile page.
I also have a question. My daughter's husky sheds like made twice or year. Does your husky sheds if so what do you do for it?

We have a husky and I'm glad to hear that she's not the only one shedding like crazy. It's really bad in summer, but she sheds virtually all year round. I asked the vet about it and he said that she will shed so much because it is much warmer by us. I sometimes get so tired of all the hair, but then I look at her and she looks back at me with her head on my knee and these 'I-adore-you' eyes and my heart just melts.
Tell me, is it wise to wash huskies regularly? I heard that you shouldn't wash them often, and also that they should not get wet right through to the skin because their hair keeps the dampness locked in and makes it too hot for them.

Hi There
Meet Hero (picture attached). He is my big baby. I have two huskies Hero which is 2 years old and his mommy which is about 4 now. You're right they are beautiful family animals. Does yours sing to you? This is a charactertistic that Huskies are known for. Hero will sing for you when you whistle for him. I love my dogs, they mean the world to me.

I don't know Huskies can sing. That's so funny they can sing. I have once seen a pug can sing on youtube, it is amazing, I thought only clever dogs could sing, my pug can't sing even I tempted him to.

Previously there was a post on mylot, which was based on a recent incident. The incident was about two pet dogs killing a baby in their own house. When I was a kid, we had a pet dog. It once tried to bite me. So my mother asked my father to not have pets till I was older.
I would also suggest to you and others not to keep animals as pets when you have kids in the house. Keep as many as you like after the kids are old enough.
