Do you give a firm handshake or one that is barely there.
Well, to me, i prefer a firm handshake. It also shows one's sincerity. Even business etiquette classes teach people to give firm handshakes.
But today, i met with a guy, Yes a guy, who gave me a barely there handshake. It was one of those dainty, 3 fingers and slightly uplifted palm handshake. I was quite shocked that a guy would produce such handshakes. i felt rather insulted. It's as if i'm dirty and he has no wish to have further contact.
I do understand that some girls give dainty handshakes. but honestly, i find that irregardless of gender, it's polite to give a full firm handshake.
What say you?

I would have to agree with you on this one. As a woman I was always taught to give a firm handshake. It shows that you are attentive and want to meet the person. A guy giving a dainty handshake is just unbelieveable. I would not quite know what to do if this had happened to me.

I live in Mexico and notice that people here are friendlier greeters.
Here everyone you meet gives a firm hand shake , Hugs and often a kiss on the cheek . I'm a woman and give a soft hand shake , but love the hugs and kisses on the cheeks , specially if its a good lookin man ! Ha!
