autochk program missing - OUCH!!!!

One morning at the office, my office mate asked me to check on her computer... What i saw is that "autochk program missing".. Well after seeing that thingy i get my windows xp installer and run a console repair, but the thing that amazed me is that "IT DIDN'T WORK" LOL... oh comeon, i started to get frustrated and frustrated andfrustrated and frustrated and!!! "How am i gonna solve this error that I encountered for the first time??""" Can anyone help check on this error?\ I found some articles about this problem while googling, it said that it's a work of a trojan or something, and you need to download a PTEDIT, a small utility and must be run during boot, i didnt tried it because my floppy drive is not working, so maybe you guys out there could help solve??
