With harder times up ahead, which one could you live without? A computer or your Cellphone? I'm thinking of giving up my broadband connection (and probably sell my 3 year-old laptop) or my phone (yes, sell my blackberry for peanuts) just to cut down on monthly bills? I really need both for my work but atleast I could still be reached thru landline. Can't decide.
How 'bout you which is a bigger sacrifice for you???

OMG I just bought the blackberry storm and i would totally sell my laptop! haha I can do everything on this phone. I will say that the monthly cost is probably more than keeping your laptop, however you do get both a cell phone and the internet with just one device.

Well considering I dont have a cell phone my computer would be a huge sacrifice for me. My internet connection is my only way of connecting and chatting with some of my friends. Plus it helps that I am working off of a friends wireless network and I am not paying for the bill so honestly I dont have much of anything to worry about lol.

I'm sure this one is really tough for all of us! I think on first instinct I would give up my cell phone. I do really love it, and I've had one for like 15 years, but I have become in my life very depemdent on the computer. Not just for this fluffy stuff, like mylot, no offense, but I use the computer for everything in my finacial life, so I don't think I could live without it. Honestly it would be nice to be at Walmart and NOT have the phone ring for a change!
Thanks for the question, and have a great day!

I would give up my cellular phone. I'd rather have a computer than a celfon. Computer is more valuable to me than my mobile phone. Broadband connection is very useful to me and I very seldom use my cell phone these days since I can use the Internet to make a call or to send a text message. I'd rather have my broadband connection and my computer of course than my cellular phone.

I think i would prefer to choose bye bye to Blackberry instead of the laptop because i would rather like to use my laptop more than to use blackberry.
But it is still your decision which of the two will you still have to sacrifice. It depends also if people would choose to buy laptop too rather than buy blackberry.

Hi Lejandro!
I sincerely hope the situation does not get that bad.
I have a cellphone and a landline and internet and I need them all
None are particularly expensive to run and if it got that bad I would probably have to give them all up together. I need my landline for extremely cheap calls abroad both to my sister in USA and my mother in UK. I could reach my sister through internet but not my mother.
Giving up my cellphone would not cut many costs for me as it is others who call me and I don't have to pay for that and I recharge it very rarely.
Lejandro I am going to forget I saw this discussion because I can't choose and I hope I never have to decide either way

I could easily give up my cell phone! In fact, I don't really use it that often. Sure, it's a fast way to get in touch with people, and it's great to have in emergencies. But if I couldn't afford either a computer or a cell phone anymore, the cell phone would definitely be the one to go!

My husband buys and sells on Ebay...and buys many things online for his shop so giving up the computer and/or dsl at home would make things more difficult for him. So, I'd choose to give the cell phones the boot. We lived with only landline phones in the past and we can do it again but we can't function as well without the computer.

I would definately have to give up the cell phone. I use the computer for much more and I could always resort to my landline phon. Actually now that I think about it I don't use my cell phone that much at all! I don't text or anything I basically have it for emergencies. So yep the votes in and the cellphone loses!

Honestly I could probably give up both if I had to. Providing I still had access to a computer and the internet at work it wouldn't effect me too much if I had to give it up at home. My cell only costs me $10 a month because I rarely use it. As long as I still had a home phone I'm sure I could live without it.

hi... I don't want to lose any of them but if I were given these choices since times are getting tougher, I'd give up my cellphone rather than my laptop. Because you might be able to surf or access the web through the phone yet it is limited. While with the computer, you can do most of your work there at home or anywhere. aside from that, you can use it to have an extra income like this, right? plus when you are bored, you can play games, watch newly released movies online, chat with friends, who are living thousands of miles, for hours without paying large bills and other stuff... ^_^

i think computer because most can probably connect to the internet thru their phone as well. i hate landline...all i get are telemarketers n if u want unlimited long distance its the same as my unlimited everything on my cell phone...definitely not worth it.

I'd say the cellphone. I cannot give up the internet because everyone in the house need it. I, myself is earning from it. My husband is using it to email documents, plans, etc., instead of bringing it to the recipient unless if a hard copy is needed. My kids are using it for research. Cellphone, I can give it up because like you we also have a landline.

Dear friend,
I may opt my laptop and mobile phone to be exempted. May be I could call calls from outside and those who want to call me can call through internet to my laptop or just give a mail. Moreover I could earn through my computer too.

I think both are important nowadays.. but if i really need to drop off 1, it would be my computer. There's still a lot of way to visit the net. Cafe are here, there and everywhere. But the phone, is the one of the necessities nowadays. It can save people in any ways. For emergency purposes and for some other important things also.

Well,my answer will be a cellphone.Actually,I can live with it becoz the only way I can use the cellphone is to call my family or friends. But computers can do a lot more things such as surf the internet. If I don't have a computer,I can't discuss it with you now..If you wanna keep in touch with someone,a computer can do it also such as email,msn...

i'd keep the computer connection...sell the blackberry & get a basic phone - do all emails & stuff on your computer, not blackberry. i have a pay-as-u-go phone, which is good if you don't use it often (just for emergencies & stuff) - its cheaper IF u don't use it very much! do u have cable? i'd get rid of that before the computer or phone - u can watch a lot of stuff online now or just get dvds, i think TV is way expensive...
