Does anyone here live near a beach? I do and throughout the past few years i've noticed that teh tide comes in a lot further than it used to. Apparently global warming is the so called culprit. In a couple of years time my house may not be safe to live in anymore. Does anyone else have a similar situation to this? Is there anything i can do to prevent this happening?

Not sure where you are, but hurricanes and storms cause alot of beach errosion. I do not live on the beach, but 45 minutes from there. You might want to check to see if there are any local groups working on this problem. Here in South Carolina it is a big issue.

I live in the Yucatan , Mexico , a few steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Here we are having more erosion in the past month. I always thought the beach gave, and it took away , that it was the natural motion of the water . I don't know. Every day I'm looking for our beach to come back the way it was and it hasn't yet

I think this is due to the erosion of the beach itself due to the natural motion of the water pulling sand and rock back into the ocean and not due to global warming. Here in the U.S. we have this problem with many of our beaches so the local municipalities have to periodically restore the beaches. I live in Florida where we depend on tourism so our beaches are very important to the state and are closely watched and cared for. There are thousands of multi-million dollar hotels along our coastlines so, if global warming was causing the water level in the oceans to rise, we would have heard about it by now. As far as your house goes, if there are no plans to rebuild that beach...which can be very expensive because it involves dredging sand from beyond where the waves break and putting it back where it was...there is something that you can do to protect your property at least a little bit. It takes a lot of work but it is possible for you to build sand dunes to stand between your house and the beach. Two rows would be better than one. The dunes have to have native plants growing on them in order to help keep them in place. Another option would be to sell the house if your local government isn't going to maintain the beach.

I don't live near any beaches, so I didn't realize that was happening. That is pretty scary! I guess the effects of global warming are really becoming more evident now. It's hard to believe that those changes have become so noticeable in such a short period of time.

How you can prevent the global warning? It is the curse of modern science. For ourselves we are destructing ourselves. We are developing new technologies and ruining the earth and its atmosphere. We could not resist ourselves from using of refrigerator and many other modern things. Just we can tried at our personal level not to use poly bags and more and tree roping.
