... make a meal that you crave (i.e. grilled chilli shrimp and crab soup) and gorge.
... cut flowers in your house's perimeter, put them in vases and/or on your hair.
... put stilettos on and start dancing to loud music.
... start something crazy on myLot.
Because shopping is out of the question for now... what do you do?

Dancing to loud music sounds like a good one to me. I'd pass on the stilettos so that I could go all out and dance crazy. Or maybe some soft sootheing music and a good book.
... an hour alone with my potter's wheel might be pretty wonderful as well.

Aw... I wish I had at least an inch of artistic creativity or skill so I get to do activities like pottery making or carpentry... I took my shoes off a few minutes ago... I can only take so much. But it was fun. Thanks, makingpots. I have started at least three books in the last month or so but just haven't gotten to finishing them.

Well my understanding was always that when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping, but you've been very clear on that not being an option..... Hmmmmm. Lately what I've been doing to escape from the world is letting loose on singsnap. You've probably heard of it already, yes? If not, it's an online karaoke site. Anyways, nothing shuts out the rest of the world like belting out a few of your favourite tunes on there! They even have THE Cure! You then get to play yourself back (video also) and laugh yer butt off!

I don't know if I have already mentioned this before but I sound like a chipmunk on video or anything recorded.
But I do sing out in my own way. Yes, singing sure does help. With some choreographed dancing as well. I am with makingpots. Where can we find your videos, James?

I wear mostly flats... I know the heels would help me but I'm now more into being comfortable... but once in a while, you got to bust out those stilettos.
Thanks, riyasam.

I go for a walk in a somewhat remote area and let the beauty of unspoiled nature revive my spirits. This gives me a feeling of optimism and usually good ideas for overcoming any difficulty. I don't often seek solace from food, rather feeling hungry only after the optimism returns.

Hello Anne. There are various ways to cheer yourself up even if you don't have much money at hand.
- First of all, you should buy 1 chocolate - you should at least have the money for that.
-Then some of the suggestions our fellow myloters said - like reading a good book (and entering another universe by this), or watching a good movie is always good
- a walk in the park, or at least in the garden (if you have one) is also good as it will help calm you down by releasing the pressure and help you think about things.
- if available you could also talk to a friend (if any is good enough) and let him cheer you up, or just cry on his/ her shoulder (if the situation is that bad).
- Mylot-ing is good, but i don't think is the best way in though situations but hey, whatever help, right ?

Whatever helps, elitess. I do agree with all your suggestions too.
The garden idea is a very good one, I think. I want to go check out a big garden, I don't know where but i am sure it will be very pretty especially with all the blooms...

I tell myself im worth more than being sad. and when the going gets tough that is a reason to keep on going. if you want happiness YOU GOT TO WANT IT. no one can do that for you.

Thanks, nareshreddy. I believe that it is inevitable and healthy to feel sad every now and then. Then we get to cherish our happy moments even more. Thanks for sharing and stay happy.

Plan something fun... call up all your friends and make ask them to join you for breakfast on Saturday. Perhaps you could even use this "bad moment" to make something good in the long term. Get closer to your friends, start a breakfast club. Every second Saturday of the month at a different restaurant.

"breakfast club"... classic movie. Now I have that "don't you forget about me" song stuck in my head.
I am thinking more about get-together days at the house... whoever feels like dropping by, the house is open such day and with food!
