I finally did it!

I have been talking about it for a long time!.... I have finally started my shop on etsy.com! I had oodles of crafts at home, just waiting to be introduced to the world. What took me so long? .... Good question!
First of all.... I needed a digital camera. I needed to wait till Christmas to gather some extra gift money together. Thanks to a discussion I started here several months back, I was able to purchase one that really suited my needs. Everyone here at mylot was so full of great advice on that one!! Then... I was patiently waiting to gather a little more cash to purchase Norton 360 to make sure my computer was safer in order to sign up for paypal. ...... Obviously you are thinking, "How has she been getting paid here at mylot?" Well...... I haven't been. But now I can! I have accumulated around $50 and I have cashed out this month. I have yet to get that payment, but it will definitely make my day when it comes through.
So now.... I have set up a shop at etsy and I was spending most of my day today (on and off with other "mom duties") uploading photos and working out some details there. FINALLY!! Some things are just worth waiting for, I guess!
How about you? Are you in the "waiting Period" for something right now? Are you being patient? Has it been difficult?
Or........ Have you recently reached a long awaited goal? How do you feel? Tell us about it!

What is etsy? I've never heard of it.
I've also recently set up my own online shop, but I didn't go through another website, although I should as that would probably help me to get more customers. I'm not sure it will work out, but there are people who sell things they make with their talents. Well my talent is cooking... so I thought, why not try to sell my cookies? Now I just have to find customers.

I will try to check it out when I have a chance, but being on dial up makes some things difficult!

It is a fantastic site. I believe it's based out of NYC. I saw the originator on Martha Stewart about 2 years ago. You can set up your own shop there. They sell handmade items, supplies, and also "vintage" things. It's awesome! It's not just crafts but a great showcase for artists also. They have wonderful unique gift ideas. I put my link on my profile page. Otherwise just try etsy.com. Check it out!

Congrats, I hope it all goes well for you. You will have to let us know how to find you so we can check out your stuff. I am a seller on ebay and had to do the waiting game too, it was worth it for me. Things were great before Christmas, now with the economy not so great. Please be patient on your selling, money is tight right now. I do crafts to and have thought about listing some things on esty. I wish you all the best.

I just went and looked at your stuff, its all so cute. Do you ever do craft shows? My mom and I have been in a couple, never made much money though. I postd a pic of an afghan I recently made for a wedding present for my son and daughter in law. But to make something like that to sell, people would not want to pay. The yarn cost me close to $30 and thats from Walmart and it took me many many hours to make. Esty prices for listings sound great, I hope you sell lots of stuff. Good luck. I spotted that you live in Hillsdale, MI, we are practically neighbors. I live in Toledo, OH. Small world.

Thanks, I do like the way the afghan turned out. As for Cosi, it is closed right now but it is suppose to open again. I went once with some of the grandkids, it was fun. I have lived here all my life. It really is a small world sometimes.

I love that they only charge 20cents an item for 4 months! If I even sell only one thing in that time, I'm pretty likely to still make money! I don't have any big ticket items however. Just little cute things. I get enjoyment out of making them and selling them would just be bonus. I don't have much invested in them either. Some people are really into expensive crafts. Not me!
I put my link on my profile if you are interested. From one crafter to another, Thanks!!

I'm naturally indecisive, so it took me a long time to set up an etsy store or anything like that. Right now, I have two pink bunny finger puppets in my etsy store - I'm hopeful that someone will want them for Easter basket additions. I gues I should put some more things in.
What did you put in your store?

Congratulations on getting your Etsy shop up and running. It feels good to know that you have finally accomplished a goal doesn't it? I have an ebay store and it took awhile to get it to where I was making a little money with it but I did last month. However, this month seems slow on there. The economy is hurting us little online people and where is our bailout? LOL!!
Well, I will go to your profile and check out your new work of art. Good luck!!

That is awesome! I'm on Etsy also, so please share your shop name and I'll go over to your shop and send you a "heart". I opened my shop on Etsy w/o a decent camera and it probably cost me several sales. We saved our money and my hubby surprised me with a gift card around the time one of the cameras we were looking at went on sale.
It has made a huge difference in my shop's appearance!
Great story and it really does feel good when you set out to accomplish a goal and you finally reach that day! Good luck to you on Etsy!!

First off, welcome to the world of business. We are proud of your accomplishments (setting goals, not getting sidetracked, moving forward to success)! I am not sure what etsy is but I will check it out.
I have been learning so much about blogging and writing. I am not sure what my goals are other than to learn at this point and hopefully help others.
I always am waiting for something. I would not want to live without expecting something that I am working toward. There are many things that I have waited for for a long time that are starting to come forth. It is like opening up a big beautiful package slowly and then peaking in. Wow, it's grand.

Thank you for the compliment on the user name. I tried to flip dyslexic to sysdexlic because I am for all intense purposes no longer dyslexic. I was able to go through vision therapy at age 50 and no longer struggle with flipping numbers, words, etc. They took my picture in the eye doctor's office and it's on the board with all the little five and six year old kids that usually do the therapy. What can I say. I believe you are never too old to learn new things.

Congratulations rocket! That's a good feeling to take the plunge and set up your online shop. I recently did that on madeitmyself.com. I'd like a link to your store at etsy.

Congratulations! I envy you! I've seen a lot of nice things on etsy, but I am manually challenged and have zero artistic talent. Once you get going and sell a few items, it's really a nice feeling that your work is appreciated. I wish you success!

recently, i reached a goal, to finish a house. i started this house last year, with a lot of effort, money and stress. but the effort was worth it, so i'm glad of finishing this house in which i live in. so, fight for you goals, don't give up, even if it it hard.
