Do You Always Answer Your Phone?

I have always felt wary whenever my cell phone rings and I see an unlisted number on it. I do not like answering calls from people not in my phone book. Sometimes, I just let my phone ring thinking that if it is really important, the person calling would send a text message after. What about you? Do you answer your cell phone even if you do not know who is calling?

Oh no I never answer my mobile phone if there is no number on it, simply because everytime I have it has always been someone telling me I have won a holiday and all I have to do is phone this other number to claim it! I have lost count of the number of holidays I have won in the last few weeks, so now I just dont bother answering it!

We have the same view I'm quite hesitant to answer my phone when the no. that is calling is not listed on my phonebook, But I still need to answer it thinking it might be important, maybe it is your friend calling using a different cellphone, it may also be important. It depends on the situation.

I usually answer my phone if I am not busy, unless I really choose to ignore the person that is calling (meaning I know who is the one calling). I don't see any risk in answering numbers that are not in my phonebook. If it turns out to be a prank call, I simply stop the call and take note of the number so I won't answer it again.

It's hard to answer some calls when It was not on your phone list. But so far I never answer any frank call. There are times that some of my calls are really unexpected and it was emergency. I still answer some calls even If it's not on my list because I am concern with important events. There are some instance that text messaging are delayed so some of my friends prefer to give me a ring before sending a text message. But for me, calling is more essential than text message. A personal conversation is good enough to initiate conversation.

hi rainegurl!
well i only answer phones when i know it is important and if i feel like talking to the person who is trying to call me. hahaha! i know what i do is a bit mean but then, sometimes i am a bit lazy to answer calls.. most of the time, my dad calls me so i don't have any reason not to answer his ring because i'll end up being scolded if i don't do so.
happy posting and happy mylotting!

I do not answer if it is a number I do not know. I have done this in the past and it has gotten me in trouble. I had several different guys calling me and harasing me saying that want to meet me. I reported it to the phone company and had my husband yell at them. Finally the calls stopped after about 3 months of torture.

It is better not to answer calls from unknown persons or numbers. Nowadays, every once maintains a cell/mobile. And it is a rare chance that our friends lose their mobile and call us from a public phone or some other available number. Keeping all these points in view, it is better not to answer unkown calls. At the same time responding to unknown SMS is also danger. A few people do send such kind of stuff just to elicit some response from you so that tehy can start conversation. Always be alert while dealing your unknown calls.

Hi there Rainegurl!
I try to answer my cell phone each time it rings. An exception is when I am trying to avoid someone. There are times when I receive calls from people whose numbers are not listed in my phonebook and that is one of my problems. Most of the calls made to my phone from unlisted numbers are very important.

Yeah :) As long as I haven't received any weird text messages from the number, previously. I don't entertain strangers making friends LOL I think that if they really want friends - they'd start with the people they see often, and not with some random person they can never personally relate to.
I kinda find looking for random friends using random numbers in the phone pathetic - a waste of time.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Yeah i do. It's because i don't have a choice. Right now i am glued on my phone because i am expecting a call from the company i applied for. It does makes me wary to answer the call because i just get tense when the call is coming from the office. Other than that, i have no problems receiving a call from anybody. My dad usually hates it everytime i missed a call from him.

I have experienced that a few times, eeling tensed everytime my phone rings. It was years ago when I was waiting for exam results -- which would determine if I will be able to graduate or not. Not the happiest experience of my life but, hey, I survived. Well, good luck to you. Stay positive

In my case i want to be available all the time that is why i answer every calls i received..There's no harm in answering the phone..what if it is emergency it is an advantage for those friends who needs help. It's an advantage for us. what if the calls comes abroad..or what if the call comes from your employer.. so no disadvantages to this..you have phone and you have callers so answer whatever calls you have..

I never answer a blocked, unavailable or unknown number. I don't know anyone with those names! I do the same thing at home. My theory is if you are calling me under false pretenses by blocking your number then I don't have time to mess with you anyway!

I always prefer to answer my phone calls. The main reason is I always keep a low balance and hate to spend money for recharging phone. So, I will pick up the phone as soon as it starts ringing, else I have to see the miss call and them. My husband always laughts at me when he sees me rushing to attend the phone when it rings.

You have a point there. Better answer the call quickly so that you do not have to call back

Every one keeps the cell phone for an instant interaction with other pplz. This is the main aim of having a cellphone and if you are not answering the calls then maybe you are misusing the cellphone. I always answer my cellphone no matter who is calling me. There is an option that a friend could be a caller from any other phone also so if its is like that it means we are not answering our friend who maybe looking for some help or something like that.
If you want to relax to can power off your cell phone for some time but not answering is not good. I always power off my cellphone when i am with my special friend.

no i don't always answer my phone. to me the mobile phone is both a neccessity and a nuisance. i love the convenience and mobility it offers but hate the intrusion. i am free to go anywhere and everywhere without worrying about something happening and my family has no way of contacting me. however, the idea of someone being able to find me wherever and whenever sends the shiver up my spine. can you imagine the phone ringing in the middle of 'something'?
i answer my mobile if it's convenient most of the time. i may not know the number but it could be the bank or the utilities company. i stop at answering my mobile when it's past 12, i'm home and i don't know the number. cheers

Hi friend! I attend most of the call coming in my cell phone which is unknown or some times it may a blank call or sometime it might be a wrong no. My children dont have a cell phone so they have given my cell no to their friends and their call comes so all nos are not been identified by me, so attend the call for the sake of children. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

yes, i do answer my personal cell phone whenever it rings. why? because i know that there is an important matter why somebody is calling me. no matter what is the purpose of the call or no matter who is the caller is i see to it that i grab it once its ringing. now if it is just a wrong number then its ok with me atleast i have not missed a single opportunity that may be coming from the caller himself.
nice topic and be blessed

I think it will be good if i look it before answer it.
For example, if the telephone is from my best friends,
I'll try to answer it as soon as possible.
But, if the call is from other that i never know (like your question),
I prefer to reject it, or answer and ask who is calling...^^...
Make mylot the best...TQ...
