Can you please help me download a torrent file?

Dear mylot friends please help me to resolve this issue.I was searching for the film schindler's list and landed on a site which provides free download of the film.But it said that I need to download something called torrent file.Actually what is this torrent file.Is it safe for my laptop?How can I download the film with it?Why can't I download the film directly without the so called torrent file? After installing it can I uninstall it safely and completely without harming my computer? Will it alter the speed or configuration of my internet connection? Please help me.

Hi, cosmopolitan, the torrent file you mentioned is not a software, it is a seed file, you must download another programme likes flashget, which will handle this seed file. The seed file contains some information about how to search the file you needed (in your case, the film file) on other people's computer, about how this work, you may read the information provided by the programme.
I've used torrent/BT for a long time, it seems to be safe.
