Real Heros From Last 100 Years?

Who is the biggest hero (famous - i know there are hero`s in our communities) that are real true legends? Ghandi? Mother Terrasa? Christopher Reeve? people that inspire you to be a better person? I know many of us will look to family. Im looking more towards people that everyone will know. For me i think Bob Champion (jockey) who was given weeks to live (cancer) following Heavy Chemotherapy he went on to win The Grand National (UK) in 1981. Also Terry Prattchet suffering with Althziemrs and is still working away even as his condition worsens. I think people who carry on with illness and personal battles (Famous or Not) are an inspiration to us all.
