hi chantalgiardina, I am still working how to play guitar, their are many free tutorial lesson on how to play guitar on you tube and some other site. I think you should dedicate you self to practice everyday at least an hour so you will learn faster. You must have a lot of patience and love for music you wont stop until you learn it. I myself is still struggling for a moment but i don't lose hope. If others can, so do i. Good luck..

Guitar is not so hard to learn especially if your really passionate about it. When I first started it was fun. I was taught by no one, I practiced with a guidebook about how to play guitar. Eventually I started to learn and got good at it. For a beginner you can have a friend to teach you and will take much time. As I've said, it's easy if your really into it.

I always wanted to play the drums and it is not as easy as it looks either. I tried to play a guitar also and had a very good instructor but I just lost interest in it. I had a hard time getting my fingers to coordinate also.

Learning to play guitar is easy if you truly want to learn and enjoy playing it. The first thing you need to learn is how to tune a guitar. Once you know how to tune your guitar you want to start learning bar chords. Bar chords are easier on beginner fingers than standard chords. Start by placing your the index finger on your non-strumming hand across all six strings on the 1st fret then place your non-strumming hand ring finger on the 1st through 5th strings on the 3rd fret (that is an F chord). Keep practicing strumming that chord until all strings ring through. Try learning songs you really like. If you take guitar lessons from an instructor always ask that they teach you a song you truly like. I hope I've been helpful.

good for you learning an instrument is a great use of ones time. I think that when you play guitar or any instrument you have a better hearing for music. Which makes enjoy it more i heard the guy form the Black Crowes once say the music is flowing through all of us and you just need to tap into it.

It is hard to learn guitar at first but after you get those chords under your finger, you should be good. I highly suggest you try to figure out chords first, make sure you practice guitar and read music/guitar theory at the same time to know the relationships in between progressions. Its really an awesome feeling in learning new things and believe me, once you get to play guitar (chords and leads), its very, very, very fulfilling. Im writing my own thrash metal song as we speak. \m/ metal rules..!

^_^ Howdy chantalgiardina!.... Search on youtube "guitar lessons" or whatever you like. Then subscribe on that provider for guitar lessons and tips. Search for softwares for guitar lessons. Or use an Apple Mac (yeah I know its costly.... lol...). Macs has iLife'09 and in it has a software called Garage Band. It has a live guitar lessons. Bono of U2 and other popular musicians as the teachers. ^_^ Thanks and Enjoy!.... myLot!....
