Put your stereo speakers up against the neighbouring wall and put on some music and turn it up to eleven and give them a taste of their own medicine.
No, seriously just try approaching the neighbour and explain the situation to them and if they are any kind of reasonable people they will understand. They should respect your wishes.
If that approach fails you could report them to your local council or their landlord and let them deal with the problem
All the best and I hope you get the issue resolved.

My fiancee and I live in a downstairs apartment. Upstairs are two very obnoxious men. They slam the door every time they go in and out of their apartment. They slam it so hard that it makes our pictures swing on the wall and it has startled me when I'm on the complete other side of our big apartment. These men walk like elephants! I've been woken up by their walking around upstairs of my bedroom. You'd think they weigh 500lbs, but they don't. Apparently they just have heavy feet. They shower at all times of the day and we're talking 1/2 hour showers. My fiancee and I can never shower within an hour of each other because there just isn't enough hot water. The neighbors always beat us to it. Luckily my fiancee and I are moving out in July , once we're married. I can't even imagine living in this apartment another year with them. I can't imagine if someone with children moves into our apartment - I don't know how their kids would sleep!
