amount earned changes instantly

now it's official. i actually thought it was me who just had a memory lapse but the amount i earned when i first opened mylot today decreased by $0.01 after my response. what's happening?

It's probably because your response is getting deleted, because you might be answering questions that go against the rules (and the secret myLot admin delete these questions - which, in turn, delete the responses as well). Otherwise, it's just myLot's crazy alogorithm re-calculating your earnings. I wouldn't worry too much about it - after all, what's 1 cent?
