lets say the world would end today, nothing drastic, no meteor nothing like that, lets just say a virus was released unto us by some sort of terrorist or something and mankind just ceased to exist and lets say aliens come to our planet looking for alternate life forms and finds our history books and learns how to tap into our internet and looks through all of that, would you be embarressed about our species?
the aliens look through our history book and reads about the salem witch trials, the halocaust, the spanish inquisition, the war in iraq, the la riots, 911, slavery, the civil war, the revolutionary war, the colloseums, the bombing of hiroshima. and all of the other acts of extreme violence that humanity has taken part in.
would you be ashamed that the aliens would find us to just be some barbaric war crazed race?
just something I was pondering, cant wait to see the responses in the morning

It's cool... hahaha
hmmm. if that will be the case, Let's say I'm 50/50, half embarrassed because we had let our beautiful world get destroyed in our own hands. The other half is proud beacuse we had lived life on how we want it to be and as a human being. These actually make us look like we've got a whole lot going for us and make us more interesting. We might even earn a wow! from them... and say, "they have these??? must be a whole lot fun than in our planet!" 
though I'd still say, I love being human.

well I know you wouldnt be alive, but lets say our spirits are able to still roam the planet or something and we notice these little green men or however they may look and we see their responses, (I was tired when I wrote this so I may have some holes in it.

hmmm... if they read our books of history and see all the bloody battles, corrupt politics, nature being destroyed, etc, then they had missed some parts of our history. There are so many good things that so many men had done.
Like fighting for human rights, environmental programs to save our planet no matter how hard it is, ordinary people making a difference in all aspects of life all over the world...
that's why I said half of what our race had done will make me embarrassed and half of it is proud...
If they do missed those lil things in our history, hmmm... and our spirits still roam on earth by then, maybe we could practise picking up a pair of eyeglasses to let them see those small printed letters hehehe

I think they would see all that you spoke about, but I also think they would find the many good deeds that we people of this planet have done also. I am an american and I am proud to be one, although at time now I wonder if we can hold our heads up in the times we are going through today. I think they would see that the greed that we ourselve have brought on the companies that some have worked for has driven them clear out of the country. The wanting more and more and it never enough, living way beyound our means, I think that is what they would come to realize we did to our selves.

I'm american as well and I'm proud to be one, but alot of the good deeds we've done have been countered, lets start with mlk, he was fighting for black rights and bam, hes gone, malcolm x was fighting for black rights and bam was shot by the same blacks he was trying to help. Those are the only two I can think of right now sorry I wasnt able to build a strong argument lol.

I think the aliens would say, "these guys were just like us, and lets get the hell out of here, before we get infected by the virus that wiped the humans" lol
There has fights and wars. Even seemingly peaceful animals fight.
Its not about the fights or wars. Its about what was the fight about, who was righteous. Do you think Hitler, would have stopped if you told him to stop.
First we try the peacefull method. Even if the evil does not stop, then we need to use force.
I think the people have forgotten how Saddam invaded a peaceful country like Kuwait. Here the war was to protect the innocent.

I couldnt agree with you more, I just put in the different wars because I wanted to show that it wasnt just the US at fault and that iraq and everybody was just as evil as us, I did it to show that the entire world was at fault not just a few countries but good response.

wow, what an intense discussion, I think the aliens probably arent much better than we are, they'll probably look at the stuff, and see how we turned out and will be like "wow we better tell our leader about this stuff so we dont end up like these poor saps, or if they are living in a utopia they will probably laugh at us, and be like wow mankind was pathetic, why did they do that?

lol I hear ya chum, the aliens would either probably learn something from our mistakes or laugh at us because they're perfect, nobody's perfect...but does that only apply to humans?
