It would make a lot of sense if the school day was as long as the normal office hours. Then the mother and father would get back from work the same time as the children and avoid this battle of having carers look after the children between end of school and end of work.

As an educator I am against longer school days. As a student also i was against longer school hours. Learning in a school happens in a controlled environment & that's why there is a limited scope to learn. Free time gives you opportunity to research & also learn through experiences. unfortunately most parents want longer school hours for their wards because they do not want to take the responsibility of their children all round education.
