Ok, I am very technically challenged and we dont update our things for years and years...actually we realized yesterday that we have had our cell phones for almost 4 yrs... so we do always jump up and buy the latest and greatest...LOL
so last night hubby had it with his phone since it has been acting up for the last month and since our last contract had been up for over a year --we just kept it going, we went to see what we could get ...
so now I have a new blackberry phone... and the deal we got was unbelievable!! Hubby got a touch screen phone blackberry and I got the blackberry pearl... wow, I am so not sure what this thing does but it has alot on it....LOL
do you buy the latest and greatest when it comes out or do you wait?

Hahaha I seem to remember talking about new fangled things with you somewhere else not so long ago LOL
No my phone is one of the first Nokia models that came out and I got it when they lowered the price a heck of a lot after all the new models arrived on the market. It is still working fine and when it breaks down I shall use its twin - yes because I bought two that day!

Yes 'we' don't need the latest just because it is the latest.
Did you get used to your new one yet?

it will take some time, and it even has a tutorial on it to help you learn how to use it...LOL

I am an impulse buyer. I have to have the latest and greatest. I currently have the samsung instinct while my best friend has the apple iphone. We always compete with technology. I also have a friend who has the blackberry storm and it is a good phone. Both of yall phones have great applications and if your not to engaged in technology you might find yourself not using all of its splendid features. I am currently waiting for something better to come out to upgrade even though I only had my instinct for 8 months!

I wait. And sometimes wait and wait and wait. I have never, for instance, bought a new laptop. My first laptop, I bought from e-bay for $310.00. It had a 4.76 GB hard drive. The next one I believe I paid about $200.00. They both ended up being the same model, IBM thinkpad 600e. When that broke down, I took it to a repair shop. They said it had seen its day. They had a compaq for $160.00, but that had some issues with it. So I took it back to see if I could get my money back, they said sure but they had just got this used thinkpad which they could do an even trade plus $20.00. It's the A20m. So far it's the best one I've had. But it has windows 2000 on it, not XP.
Now, for my cell phones. I had an audiovox, that I used for so long, it got to the pont where the battery would only hold a charge long enough to make one 5 minute call. When I went to buy another one, I was told they don't make those batteries any more. So, i ended up getting another one, a Nokia. I had that for a coiuple years. The only reason I changed is because I found this company, Consumer Cellular that offered a $10.00 a month plan with no free minutes. Since I hardley ever use my phone, I got it and they offered a motorola for $25.00. I will probably have this for who knows how long. I'm thinking of getting an extra battery for it now, just in case they stop making these batteries. I may have this for another 10 years.

yeah, I think sometimes it is better to wait to see how certain products work out or not...if they have problems or if they are worth the wait to get them.. we definitely dont get things until we really need to as well.
thanks for responding.

well, i really have this cellphone for almost 2 years. It`s time to change it! I have a Nokia N70, and it was quite nice then, when i`ve buyed this one. Then it cost me a lot of money, now, i don`t think that i`ll get more than 10% from his value. I really want to purchase now a Nokia 5800. I really heared that it`s so amaising. I really am a Nokia fan and a Nokia I`ll buy for sure. Hope that i`ll buy one soon, but with all this crisis, it`s hard to spent more money on mobile phone... i don`t know for sure, i`ll think about this.

I usually keep mine for about 6 months. I drop them, the baby drops them and chews on them, the dog grabs it, etc. I think I had my last one for about a year which was a pretty long time for me.
We usually buy whatever one has all the features we want and is affordable at the time.

I never buy the latest ones because i'm a conservative consumer:)The cell phone i use now is for nearly 2 years . Maybe i'm a simple-minded girl,i think if the cell phone can make a call and messages, i won't change it,unless it's stolen by the thief:(

The average cell phone, is really only good for about two to three years, so I suggest getting a new one at least once every two years. My family renews ours every two years.

I do not have the habit of changing mobile phones a lot. The last time I changed my mobile phone was six months ago, when I lost my mobile phone. I changed my mobile phone around one year before. I think there are lots of new model mobiles are available, which makes people change mobile occasionally.

I bought my new NOKIA N85 three months ago. the last one is a touch screen, which i felt not convenient for me, so I decided to change a new one, even I only use it 1.5 years. At first sight, i love my new N85, it's so cool. I usually change my cellphones every 2 years.

no more cellphone for me. one is enough for me. i am not a techie guy and i don't like bringing around some gadgets that is expensive. i am more comfortable bringing a cheap phone. at least when it get lost or stolen i don't worry much about the money i have spend on it. but i admire new phones now. but it is just not for me.

I get new phone every other month I broke my iphone and got the htc fuze from at&t and then two of them broke so now I'm on my third one now and I also have the blackberry pearl flip from T-mobile so for right now two phones are still working and helping me communicate with friends and family, since I like to do a lot of texting and emailing when I'm not on my laptop.
