Anyone have a sibling with mental health issues?

I have a sibling that has been taking depression meds for a little while now. She has been to a few different doctors and each of them has given her a different diagnosis. My mother thinks the doctors diagnosis is gold. However, I am very close to this sibling and don't think she needs the meds but needs to talk more. Has anyone gone through this? What advice do you have?

You said what your mother thinks and you said what you think. But what does your sister think? Does she feel better with the medication? If yes then it's a done subject.
Some mental health issues will not resolve themselves no matter how much or how little the patient talks. It's usually due to a chemical imbalance somewhere within the brain and although therapy can help a lot, it does not alter the disorder in any way, but the medication can.
It would be a mistake to discourage her use of medication if she is feeling/doing better with it, because I'm sure you wouldn't want her to revert. But do encourage her to talk more openly with her doctors. Her reluctance to talk might be why the diagnosis is different each time she sees a new doctor.
