Would you play golf naked?

I don't play golf but I do have a glance over the sports pages in the papers.
It was the first tee Friday at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship and this guy, Henrik Stenson, apparently managed to get his clothes muddy. Instead of letting it spoil his performance, he gaily stripped to his boxers and continued to play. No one seemed to mind but I thought his exhibitionistic aspect must have been waiting for this opportunity since forever.
If myLot lets me attach the photo successfully, then you will see him in his almost full glory.
What do you think about him stripping? Should he have done this possibly obscene and offensive act? Should he have just stayed in his clothes? Is this his cheap ploy for quick fame (he wasn't much noticed before this)? Would you play golf naked yourself?

I wouldn't play golf outside naked, I wouldn't want to scare anyone. Now if I could play golf in privacy and it also would depend on my partner, then I might play golf naked. Lucky for this guy that he listened to his momma and wore clean underware, you just never know.

Heck if you own your own private golf course, you can wear anything or nothing.

This made me smile, no publicity is bad publicity even when it's butt naked! I guess he was a prize exhibitionist, mind you it's a good job he knew which ball to swing at! I mean with boxers on there would be extra swing involved! Couldn't he have stopped play and run back to the clubhouse and changed into clean clothes, or borrowed some clothes? I am sure he didn't need to resort to stripping. Because this discussion was a notification, I have gone into the discussion without seeing the pic, dependent on not if he has a nice bod to display would make a difference to me LOL! As to whether I would play golf naked, well there is a small problem, I hate GOLF! Now if it was water sports then I would definitely go naked ;0)

I think we ought to point out to wizard that there was no 'mud' until page 3 - and even then we kept it as clean as we could

Good lord no, I don't think I could play golf naked nor any other sport. Atleast this Henry person was wearing boxers, I am in wonder though if he had been wearing a men's bikini or briefs if he would have done it. Well, boxers cover alot of area in some cases more then some shorts do so I doubt it would be offensive in any case.

The boxers look pristine white still, the mud must have just soiled the clothes a bit. I would imagine the boxers will be dirtied if the muddy situation was severe.

Well, if it was that muddy and he hated being dirty.. Makes me wonder what he was going to do if he got his boxers to dirty? Maybe someone was getting him other clothes while he played in his boxers.

Maybe he will take off the boxers LOL.
Anyway it seems I got it wrong. Apparently he took it off because he anticipated his shot will get him all muddy. He doesn't want that so he took it off, took that shot then put the clothes back on.
I guess to him, wearing clothes on a all muddy body is more comfortable than a clean body wearing muddy clothes.

As I agree with the who said golf was a good walk spoiled, I wouldn't play golf. As I live in England it's always too flipping cold to strip off so I think the answer would be eeeeerm no.
If he's comfortable with himself and he keeps his boxers on then why not play that way.

I wouldn't play golf in any conditions at all, don't like the game.
I can't help thinking he is hoping that a sun-lamp company will hire him for a before and after publicity stunt.n He certainly looks like he could do with a holiday in the sun, poor soul.
What happens if it rains again - what was he going to remove then?

30 years ago I would have! Or at least, half-naked. I wouldn't subject anyone to my wrinkled old body now, they might get sick.

I have no idea Wizzy! Do they allow this? I thought its a gentleman's game and they have strict decorum! Henrik Stenson is looking like an amateur who is more of an exhibitionist though. And when the world looks at you like that I wonder what next he could do!

I thought golf required a certain decorum and boxer briefs is not in them.
Personally, no matter what he is or is not wearing he doesn't float my boat...so no fame there in my eyes.

First, I don't play golf. Second, I would not play golf naked. As for the guy who got his clothes muddy and then played in his boxers...........He is nuts. He should have stayed in his clothes. I would think the golf course would have rules about attire. I think his actions were in bad taste. I am glad I did not see this guy play golf.

Well it seems I got it wrong. He knows that shot would get him muddy so he took it off for that shot then wear it back. But still... he should have just brought a fresh change of clothes since it is not an amateur.

Ok before I answer this properly I have to let you know that I do not golf, I do not play golf and I think that golf is a waste of time! On the other hand my other half loves golf , plays golf and thinks that it should be everyones priority! lol
AS it happens the other half was watching coverage of this game when it happened. He didn't strip down because he got a little muddy and continue playing. He had to play a shot he knew was going to leave him wet and covered in mud which would make him very uncomfortable as he continued with the game and would apparently have affected his playing ability therefore he stripped down to play the shot, then got dressed again and carried on!
He is apparently a well known professional golfer worth millions of pounds and not in need of publicity. I for one though am quite pleased that he did this as hw looks rather yummy and I wouldn't mind at all if he played like this more often - in fact I might even start watching golf if he did this all the time! lol
Hugs xxxx

I see! Thanks for the correction mummymo.
lololol to him whetting your appetite. But still, isn't stripping quite against the decorum of the game? According to your hubby, is this actually acceptable without anyone battling an eyelid?

Gee thanks for the medal wizzy that has made my week!
AS for the decorum of the game etc - according to hubby it is perfectly acceptable! Better that than ruin his chances! Seemingly too other pro golfers have done similar things , just hasn't been caught by tv cameras! lol xxx

Definately a cheap ploy
But hey he got more balls than me ... literally LOL!
I can't play golf and I think if I stripped whilst doing it someone would pay me to put my clothes back on
Either that or the men in white coats would come and take me back to the funny farm

The first reaction on my mind is that maybe he is doing this on purpose for quick fame,as you said in your post that he wasnt much noticed before this.I dont know ,either.Nor can I play golf.Well, personally,I think its fun.lol Golf is a kind of exercise,so whats wrong with playing it naked? Its much better if he did it privately but not in public, esp.at the World Golf Championships. However, you cant deny that its a very smart move to draw attention.lol

So would I play golf naked, yes I personally would. I have no shame in this at all, I would do anything unclothed if the law allowed, aside from cooking, that is just dangerous. Him stripping was his choice, I think it would have to be a lot of mud to make it necessary. From what I understand most professional golf courses do have a dress code. I don't believe this is possibly obscene or offensive, but I understand that a fair amount of the population would, he should have taken that into effect, and he most likely did. As for staying in his clothes, again, it would depend on how much mud. But in the context of the situation, I think he should have. Probably, and it would work quite well I imagine, with people from every part of the spectrum saying something somewhere about it. Cheers.

It was a tournament so I would have thought there would have been some decorum required.

Ha ha this is just too funny You just failed to admire the person's dedication to the game. I have heard many golf stories but this one takes the cake. I doubt if mylot will ever let you upload the picture of him but you can post the link of this news for me to see. And being a gal if I go naked I wonder what the news would be.If at all as there are so many of them parading around as it is.Ha Ha Ha I just can't stop imagining him and laughing. This admirable to the point of ...hmm stupidity is that the right word?Ha ha ha ...

Yea mansha, I don't find golf anything exciting enough to inspire dedication from me.
That picture appeared in many major newspapers including the one I read. And they gave him real lot of estate space. My comment about myLot and attaching the photo is because sometimes, myLot gets buggy and my picture though already uploaded with the discussion does not appear with the discussion. Usually this would not be too much a problem but for this discussion, I think showing the picture will help to let you see it for yourself what I am talking about.

Well My Lord. Whatever gets attention whether it be good attention or bad attention. Some times to get noticed you have to do something that not everyone will like. It worked didn't it. here you are talking about it. Would you be here discussing him if he had not done some thing so shocking. I am sure there are others talking about him as well Voila Instant fame !!!!!

It is just mud. How bad can it be that you need to strip to your boxers in order to continue the game?
Isn't there some sort of dress code required when entering the club? And shouldn't this dress code be ovserved for the whole duration that you are in the club, with exception for people using the pools.
Hmm... a case of double standards? Or is the progress of the game so important, it is okay for a player to be playing in the greens in his underwear?

Apparently I got it wrong. He stripped to PREVENT the mud from getting onto his nice clothes. His current shot will make him all muddy which will affect his performance later on so he stripped for this shot, then put his clothes back on. I assume he has a towel to clean the mud away before he re-attire himself lol.
I would have thought there is a dress code too, especially since this is a tournament...
