I want to order My Baby Can Read but I'm a little skeptical. Isn't it just a whole bunch of memorization? Well I guess thats what learning is. How do you other mothers feel about it?

Yes, it is just a bunch of memorization, and no, that's not what learning is. Learning, especially when it is something like reading, is about understanding that letters are symbols for other things, and they have meaning. Put them together in different ways and they mean something entirely different. They have sounds associated with them, and when you put certain letters together, it changes the sound.
Babies and toddlers do not need to be learning how to read. They are busy learning other concepts, such as who is a person they can trust, and who they should be wary of. They are learning that when Mommy leaves, she will come back. They are learning how to walk, talk, socialize, interact, how to get along with others and share. Reading is not an appropriate skill to try to teach children so young because they are concrete thinkers. They can't think in abstract terms, as in using a symbol to represent something else. That is why everything goes into their mouths. If they can't see it, touch it, taste it, smell it- it doesn't exist as far as babies and toddlers are concerned.
Don't waste your money. In fact, I think that the program probably does more harm than good in the long run, because it does not teach letter recognition or phonics at all. Stick to the old fashioned way of teaching letters- start with singing the ABC song and go from there.
