What is the highest paid writing site you write for

March 14, 2009 1:31pm CST
There are many writing sites which just pay you for page views, or 50% revenue share, but which ones pay you upfront, and pay the most? I know Associated Content pays several dollars per article and Helium pays up to $2.50 an article and I am a member of both of these. I have checked out Brighthub, and constant content which both pay more but they seem to be very hard to make money at, what are your experiences mylotters?

Depends if you're in the US or not. If you are, Textbroker is supposed to be good. Constant Content is just a marketplace - selling there is pretty random until you've made a reputation. I'm non-US, but have sold a few things on most sites where it's possible. If you don't mind writing to order, look at GetAFreelancer as well. Plenty of work there.

I have not written for any sites. Though I have read extensively about free lancing writing options. I think Associated Content and Triond are great. Then you may also try your hand on elance. If you can write powerful small how tos... then eHow will be better. I don't have any faith on Helium, their ranking system is a nightmare for an aspiring writer.

Writing for content sites on the internet is a large chunk of my income. My biggest earner right now is Demand Studios ($15.00 per article), but they don't pay residuals. I LOVE residual income. :) I also write for Associated Content, Helium, eHow (which is the best for residuals if you ask me - they get good SERPs), Constant Content and Daily article (which work the same way), just started with Bukisa (looking good so far), and used to write for Triond but stopped. I still get a monthly payout from them though. Not to brag, but only to demonstrate what is possible: I've been writing for these places on and off for about two years now and make residuals (that is money each month without having to do any more work at all) over $600 per month. And I'll keep making around that each month even if I never write another article. Did I mention I LOVE residual income? Hee hee!

That sounds fantastic! However I cant join ehow or demand studios cos they are onyl for US and dont pay UK people. I have never heard fof daily article, I must check them out now. I love residual income too, but can never see me getting even as much as $100 a month for page views. You must have several quality articles in order to get so much traffic

Following on from what Spike said, there are freelance sites that pay much better than Associated Content or Helium (and I've made as much as $10/article at AC in better times). The downside is that you must write to a specific topic, which is spelled out for you...much like the Marketplace section of Helium. A few sites like this to try are Constant Content, Elance, and Guru. With Constant Content, you can write about what you like and hope someone buys it or you can reply to their email requests for specific articles. Good luck!

Yes I agree there are much higher paid freelance markets and I think it is the lack of time and confidence which stops me from pursuing such opportunities

They say that you could make a lot of money writing for helium which might be true for some people but certainly not true for me. I only have 30 cents in the 11 months that I have been there. I just don't have the talent that makes hundreds of dollars in a few months the way some people do. Cheers!!

Helium has improved alot. Now you can get the $3 rating bonus as well as an upfront payment as mentioned above. For people who have one writing star and oen rating star and can write 10 articles a month this is $5 alone for upfront payments. Plus if you write to an empty title you get an extra $1. Then you have page views. I believe anyone can make $10 a month from helium. I have over $30 in upfront payments already for this month!

I won't play with slave-labor sites like AC or Helium. They're not worth my time for the few pennies I earn. I write for: Constant Content = pays $50 per 500 word article (I set my own prices) PersonalMoneyStore = pays $25 upfront per 500 word article Writing-World = pays $25 per 500 word article Freelance Factor = pays $25 per 500 word article LoveToKnow = pays $15 per 500 word article BrightHub = pays $10 per 500 word article plus page views Need-An-Article = pays $8.50 per 750 word article TextBroker = pays $7.50 per 450 word article (at a ranking of 4 stars) RantBlogger = pays $5 per rant-session With your talents, why bother with the low paying stuff at all? YOu could be making a great income. All these markets and the links for them are listed on my blog for everyone.

Thanks for sharing these. The problem is I dont think I have the talent for such sites mentioned, so that is why I stick to lower paid sites which I know will accept my work without question. Brighthub rejected my application and personalmoney store looks way too complicated. Textbroker only pays US, so that leaves me with the other few to check out.

I am the biggest self critic there is, but that comes from being a bit of a perfectionist

Never underestimate your own talents. Many artists and creative people are guilty of being their own worst critic. You'll find that you actually have more talent than you think - but you have to work on that self-confidence first. Oh - and I'm not in the US either. I'm in Australia
