autologous stem cell transplant

Has anyone heard of GVH (Graft vs Host) when a person has an autologous stem cell transplant? Well, my mom acquired GVH and hers was autologous. Also, she has CMV now and a Gram Positive blood infection and hemmoraging in her eye due to an undetermined infection. Has anyone been through something similar? I was under the impression that this stem cell transplant would go a lot smoother than this. It really has been horrible. I think it has been almost two months now since the transplant and the diarrea is just now subsiding. The whole thing has been just terrible. It almost seems like the multiple myeloma is more desirable than the consequences from the transplant. I guess not in the long run though.
