Have you ever heard that quote?
What do you think it means to you. I think it means, that all friends will eventually stab you, but a real friend will always do it in front of you. It might hurt more, but it'll hurt for a shorter time.
I've once had a friend. I was hanging out with him, when I overheard him talking with some other friends, making fun of me - behind my back. It hurt. For a long time. Trust me, being stabbed in the back kills, but being stabbed in the front only hurts.

I haven't heard about this saying before... I'll give it a try and say my opinion about this.
To be stabbed in the front is like hearing the truth directly from another person. Truth hurts and our friends are the ones who know us most so it would be better for them to tell us directly in a matter of fact way, than we finding out from someone we really don't know or through gossip or whatever.
If you are concerned with your friend, you would be tactful and honest with him/her and tell them your opinions. There are ways to tell them anyway, you can write, make examples, but a serious conversation is the best I can think of. At least, you can punch them in the face if you don't like what they have to say. LOL just kidding!
Happy myLotting!
Cheers!

well, when friends indulge in backbiting then they are not real friends. a person who feels for you from the core of his heart would not discuss about your negative things or against you when you are not present. a real friend would not hesitate to critisize you. it may hurt you but for sure there is something that is good behind his harsh words.
