Its certainly a humbling day for us. I couldn't believe my Plasma TV as I watched Liverpool come from behind to thoroughly destroy my weekend.
After the game, I wondered what effect it would have on the players. I recall Rooney saying he would utterly destroy them, and though he had a great game, nothing came out of it. Rafa Benitez men were allowed to rekindle history at Old Trafford.
Maybe it was necessary in a way, just to relieve the high flying enigma and bring them back to earth. Maybe it gave the fans the benefit of enjoying the Top English drama once again, igniting the suspense by throwing the title race open. Anyway, I'm glad it was against Liverpool, at least not Inter!
What do you think will follow?

I feel truly gutted as I write this. Infact such poor was our performance that I actually turned off the TV after Aurelio's goal. There was surely no coming back from there. 2 goals and a man down, the match was virtually over for us.
It was more than an insult as we were beaten at home by such a big margin. After we scored the first goal, everything started going wrong. Apart from Park and probably Rooney, everyone had a horrendous game especially Vidic,Evra and Carrick. I hate to say this but we missed Berbatov. With the ineffectiveness of our famed midfield, we needed creativitiy. I'm still of the opinion that Tevez started the match only to releive pressure on SAF about his transfer speculation.
And if the loss wasn't enough, I had bear with some pool friends of mine who kept messaging me with taunts after each goal by liverpool.
The only positive I can see is that the players will be angry about their performance and will hopefully comeback stronger for the rest of the season. Hail United.

It was a weird game and the result was very unexpected. I can't say that Man Utd played too badly. In fact, they played some beautiful passing football at times with excellent movement. Especially at the start of the second half when Man Utd dominated possession, I think they played really well and deserved more from the game.
The Liverpool goals all came from one-off incidents which dictated the outcome of the game. Two of the Liverpool goals were due to unforced errors made by Vidic. Vidic's sending-off made it a different game altogether. The other two goals were due to unforced errors from Evra, O'Shea and Van Der Sar. It's a combination of Man Utd making silly mistakes, and them being unlucky at times. Also, Liverpool's Gerrard and Torres were outstanding and very aggressive on the attack.
But, Man Utd fans shouldn't be too disappointed. We are 4 points ahead at the top of the table with a game in hand. Plus, we should remember that Man Utd have won 14 games in a row prior to this match, and kept a record number of clean sheets. Winning the league is about consistency, and not the results of particular matches. Man Utd are doing just that, Liverpool aren't.
Man Utd needs to evaluate this loss and focus on the remaining matches. They are undoubtedly favourites to win the league again this season.

It was a very wierd game, and yes the result was unexpected. I can't say that Man utd played badly, it's just that I can't say that they played well, Rooneys tantrums must really p#ss off the other man utd players, it's a wonder that they don't refuse to share the same dressing room as him.
But man utd fans shouldn't be too disappointed, it is certainly not an embarressment to be beaten by Liverpool but I'm not sure what to think about Fulham winning 2-0 even if it was another game with man utd throwing tantrums because they could not get their own way.
Winning the league is about consistancy, and Liverpool will not win the league with drawing games all season, but then they have lost only half the amount of games that Man utd have lost. Liverpool have lost 2 games all season while Man utd have lost 2 games in a week.
Winning the league is about consistancy. Still got a point lead and a game in hand though.

Sucked to watch the game being a manc . Am not going to get into this blame game by blaming my defense . After all without them , we wouldn't be sitting on top with such a lead . Its just a bad day at the office and it came at the worst time against our worst rival in such a worst fashion .
Hard to take it . But the lads would respond , because our manager is so vastly experienced and is cunning enough to convert a sympathetic pathetic performance into a good run of victories , good enough to win the league from then on .
As a fan , i wouldn't care if we don't win the league , all i would want is to play Pool in Champions league and twart them . But if that is not possible , i would any day take the 18th title and rub it on their faces !
They played well . They have some quality players like mascherano , torres . Torres probably is the best striker right now , who is extremely lethal .
The entire result isn't much of a concern , but the performance is ! And i hope we get over it and get back to basics .

I think this was a rude awakening for Man U. Deeply inside I feel Sir Alex will feel good about this as this will only serve to make it clear to those who think the title is won already and thus I expect a reaction from the players to this drubbing at the hands of their bitter rivals.
On the day though Liverpool were really too good both tactically as well as more hungrier for a win than Man U. I also think this has been the best week Rafa has had at Liverpool and it was great to see them bring both Man U and Real Madrid to their knees.
But now that this is over with Man U's upcoming next couple of opponents would have to feel the heat of a response as Sir Alex would roast the players after this defeat!!
Cheers!

You're sure right about that. Everyone thinks the loss will affect the players, but MANU are a team well known for using their negative past as a positive influence to their future. I think Sir Alex Fergusson knows what to do here.

I have no Idea what to say, You ofcourse are a Manu supporter but for a neutral spectator of EPL i think this game had brought back some interest in the league. I saw the match it was a pretty mediocre display by ManU defence. But Liverpool as been unstopable this week starting with 4-0 Real Madrid. You could have seen this coming. Although i never expected a thrashing to ManU.

You're right about the mediocre display, especially in the defense. Vidic was far from his game. I wondered if he was unfit for the match, as his pace, concentration and defending was slow and predictable. thats how Torres got the better of him. Torres would have had much more difficulty getting past Ferdinand. At the first few minutes of the second half, I thought an equalizer was on the way, as we labored their defense and practically made them fight for the ball. And then Vidic saved the day! i personally feel he should have been rested for the match, though thats unthinkable in a big game such as this
