What's your best ghost story?

i grew up in a 150 year old farm house, which my parents purchased when i was 10 years old. (my brother owns it and lives there now). my father was gone a lot.....i mean sometimes months at a time for his job. one night it was very cold and we had only a wood burner for heat, so we all slept down stairs. dad was NOT home. i half woke up after sleeping soundly for a few hours because i heard a man in heavy boots walking up the stairs. thinking it was dad i fell back to sleep. a few hours later it happened again, and this time i woke up fully and remembered that dad was not home. this happened on and off throughout the time i lived there and still happens sometimes when i go to visit. my father is now deceased and my brother never wears hard soled boots. i don't know what it is, but my mother, brother, and sister all claim to have heard it. dad said he never did. we assume it is the ghost of someone who previously lived in or was attatched to the house in some way. pretty harmless, just annoying to get woke up by the stomping on the stairs. shel
