For me it would be a dog. I like cats but they aren't easily trained and seem to always be into something. Dogs seem to be better listeners too and will try, it seems, to comfort you if you're down and a cat could care less as long as you're doing what they want or aren't disturbing them.

I agree that dogs are more loyal and sense your emotions more and care more than cats do.

by far a dog, but the good thing with cats is that you can just let them out and they will come back when you call or when their done chasing birds, lizards, squirrels that they bring home and put on your door step. and if you keep them in a house it stinks with that nasty litter box.

I think dogs are more fun, but cats are easier to take care of. I do love my dog, but my cat makes up for his lack of fun with his easiness to take care of. There are alot of good qualities for both of them.

For me, I prefer for a dog. I've always been a pet owner and having both of them give you time to see the advantages and disadvantages of one another. Dogs can be trained tricks, loyal and can be you best friend. For more practical reason, i'm more comfortable to dogs who watched my back, my family and my house than cat.

I prefer dogs. I like cats, but I just adore dogs. I remember wanting one so badly when I was a child, and I was so thrilled when I finally got one. I love meeting other people's pets, and I have a habit of feeding strays. When I lived with my parents as a teen, they hated me doing that because of course the strays tended to stay around our house.

I definitely prefer dogs.
they're more affectionate, great to snuggle up with, especially bigger dogs, and more fun.
also, I don't really like the smell of cats. their fur has a sort of sickly smell to it. and the idea of them pooing and weeing in the house is really quite disgusting.
although I do love that they purr.

I like both dogs and cats. Dogs come when called, but the cat I have now is an exception; she actually does come when called. Go figure. lol She also likes to play in water - who knew? lol The only thing I do not like about cats is when they get playful, they jump out at you from nowhere and they bite your ankles and swing from your knees with their sharp claws - LOL! I will not have my cat declawed, though, because what if she would get out of the house and wander off? She would have no way to defend herself. So I guess I have to live with the "love bites" and knee swinging. A downside to dogs is that they are odoriferous in breath and body. You have to bathe dogs a lot. With cats, their saliva has deodorizing and germ-killing enzymes in it, so bathing is unnecessary, unless something toxic gets on their fur such as oil, or any powder-like substance that you wuold not want them to lick and ingest, or if they have a skin condition.

That is really hard choice for me. I love both cats and dogs. I guess if I had to choose between them tho, it would be a dog. They are loyal and can be your best friend. A cat is cute and likes to lay on your lap but a dog will follow you everywhere and stick by you no matter what.

I prefer dogs. I don't know much about taking care of cats and they kind of claw you which is bad. I think their bites ard more dangerous. I don't know their temperament unlike dogs which are most of the time transparent with what they feel. I have been taking care of dogs eversince and it's really fun to have them around.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog. The dog is suppose to be my boys, but you know who takes care of him. I prefer the cats over the dog. They are easy to take care of, they don't jump all over you, or try to like you in your face after they just cleaned.

I would choose a dog. I like both but I prefer dogs... dogs are more loyal and friendly.. a dog is more like a best-friend and a cat is pet.. a cat can be a best-friend too but for me it's a dog. lol i bring him with me everywhere i can and i cuddle with him. were always together. if i had a cat i don't think it would be like that...and although he can be a pain my butt sometimes...
i love my boys.
