have you or do you know anyone that had to move to find work?

I am just curious to know with the economy the way it is, have you had to move to find work, or are you considering moving your family to another state to find work or better work? ... or maybe someone in your family or maybe a friend?
My family has been hit by the economy here in Michigan and recently a friend of the family had moved to Texas due to more work there.... and my husbands friend just moved down to florida for work through another friend down there...
so I thought maybe I would ask on here, have you or do you know somebody who had to move due to find work?

That is pretty common here in the Philippines. People would move thousands of miles away just to work. We can't blame them. There's really just not much opportunity here and their skills are more in demand in other countries than here like the nurses and engineers. Other countries promises them good pay so they would go to the extent of moving just to get that job. It happens here within the country too. My friend and his family moved out of the province to work in the capital city where there are more opportunites.

I have moved in the past for cheaper more affordable living but I never had to move or thought of moving for work yet. I ussually will move for lower cost of living and hopefully jobs will be there as well.

oh I never thought of it that way...to move where it is a lower cost of living.. that makes sense too.

wow, things would have to get really bad for me to consider that. i have grown children who live nearby and a child at home. i wouldn't want to uproot my youngest and be away from the older ones. my kids are everything to me. a job is so i can live. the day that i can't get something where i live is something i never thought of. i am not the kind of worker who was stuck to one field so i think i have a better shot of not having to make that choice. i guess sometimes you have to do what you have to do!
