A friend of mine has a beautiful engagement ring with a center diamond and two side pear shaped sapphires. She got the sapphire ring because she was unable to get amethyst (her favorite stone) at the time. Her future mother-in-law recently sold her home and came into some extra money and decided to buy herself a new wedding set which includes sapphries. Similiar cut center diamond, but the sapphires will be different. My friend is not happy about this and wants to change out the sapphires in her ring because the two rings will look similiar. Her fiance doesn't care if she does as long as she is happy. Do you think she should modify her ring or be happy with it?

Your wedding ring is something that you wear every day for the rest of you life, you need to look it & love it! Get exactly what you want if you can!

I think she needs to do what she is happy with. If she feels like her mother-in-law is trying to show her up, she needs to say something. The future MIL may not realize how she feels. I am not going ot say that she will modify her rings, but it is better to tell someone how you feel than hold all the resentment in.
